Re: Minnesota @ Wisconsin: Secondary Rivalry, Just As Much Hatred

I'm sure it's hard for Gopher fan to fathom a situation where they have more than just the hockey team to follow. Luckily, we can multi-task here.

Can't wait for Monday night!

BTW, the Wild are losing.

I think you might be getting ahead of yourself.
Even though the Badgers did a good job of taking advantage of an unmotivated team last night and earning a win against the #1 team in the country, I don't think Wisconsin will break into the top 20 in the polls.

Hawks fan right? Are you one of the 12 people who showed up at their games when they we're brutal?

Says the guy who's metro area lost a team...

FWIW, yes, I stuck with them and it was a dark, dark time. The Cup has gone a long way in exorcising those demons though.

I think they could use a little more forward momentum before they can brake for anything.

They've got CC, UMD and a non-con series with Mercyhurst coming up before the break, though. I think at least 5 points out of the WCHA games and at least a win and tie with Mercyhurst will let them break into the rankings.

Good to hear you're practicing safe deer humping.

It's good to have a walk in freezer in the basement. ;)

I stay the heck out of the woods at this time of year!

I have a hard time understanding how a WI resident can cheer for the team that fought so hard to prevent Milwaukee from getting an NHL franchise.

I won't argue with you about that, but the Crease Creatures have seen better days.

Completely agree. Both hockey and football student sections have been in serious decline over the past 4-5 years IMO. I feel like student sections of old knew much better than to chant "Badger Rejects" when we are losing. Just embarrassing actually.

You *nearly* caught me before I caught myself.
That's still a pretty smart point, though. Would have been hard to come back from....

I was a diehard Hawks fan LONG before the Milwaukee thing came about. Went to my first Hawks game in about 83.

The only thing a Milwaukee franchise would have done for me was to give me a cheaper and easier place to see my Hawks play.

I certainly wouldn't have switched to being a Milwaukee fan.

Yeah, and the NHL rewarded MN with a new team 5 years after the Stars left because there is no fan support here. Had nothing to do with Norm Greene fixing the books or his sexual harrassment charges.

Congrats on being one of the dozen fans that did. I'm sorry, but I think that fanbase is brutal.

It would be interesting for me since I would have had a team to cheer for when the North Star left, then a big choice to make in high school when the Wild came about.

Glass houses bro...

I follow and root for the team. I'm not concerned about the fanbase nor do I identify with them beyond rooting for the same team.
