Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

You do realize the royals are the best team in the AL right?

Jeebus.

So....how many games does Mr. Hunter get for his little ****fit last night?

Twins had every chance to win the first 2 games of that series, and we had split with the Royals going into it.

Saying they are the best team doesn't excuse being swept. Twins need to hit more than 1 ball per game.

Now we have Texas and St. Louis. We could lose 10 in a row.

And the Cubs after that which I will be at. Love both teams.

The June Swoon continues. 3-8 for the month. Hicks had bases loaded and failed and then failed in the field in the 8th. He is not a major league player.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Hicks' defense has saved more runs than it has allowed. That said, yikes that was ugly. I feel terrible for Milone.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Let's ask Buxton to bunt in the 9th when he doesn't normally bunt and see how that goes.

Oh out at 3rd. Ok.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Mauer is now batting .253 on the year. .173 for the month of June with 5 RBI. Yet he still bats third.

What happened to that guy? Counting this year, there have been 3 years where he has hit under .290 (2015, 2014, and 2011...where he only played in 82 games). What in the world happened between 2013 & 2014 to make his average drop from .324 to .277 and now all the way down to .253?

Mauer being a singles and walks/OBP guy and batting .330. Fine by me. Mauer being a singles walks/OBP guy and batting .250....he's ****ing Nick Punto.

He did have a concussion that ended his 2013 season. Certainly can't say that's the only factor, but we have seen that Morneau has never been the player he was before his concussion in 2010 (and sadly, it looks like his career is probably over, after suffering yet another one this year). A combination of that, the wear and tear of being a 6 and a half foot tall catcher for a decade, and being on the wrong side of 30 are all factors that make it seem like this might not be just a fluke slump.

It's gotten so bad that now a replacement player is 1 win better than Mauer. Think about that.

Morneau just won the NL batting title with the Rockies. Concussions didn't seem to hurt his hitting too much...
