Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Despite the poor start... Twins win! 14-12 Record.

They better be careful or someone might start to have hopes and dreams again.

They'll fail just about at the time when people start paying attention again, i.e. when the Wild are eliminated.

Folks had hopes last year when they were still .500 on May 24th. That was the last day. It was downhill from then on. Being a Minnesota sports fan for 40 plus years I've learned not to get excited early or late in any season.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Ho hum another Twins win. Rosario hits a HR on first MLB pitch he sees.

The way the Twins and Pirates are playing, I might actually attend a Twins win on the 19th.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Tor-ii played turn back the clock at Cleveland. 4-4, 2 2B, HR (4), 4 rbi.

Let's keep it rollin!

Hunter has been playing well, along with the rest of the team over the past couple weeks. 16-7 since the horrendous start...and importantly 12-5 at home. Currently, Twins are on pace for 91-92 wins. I don't think that's realistic, but it would be fun if they could compete for most of the season and maybe get to 85 or so and have a shot at one of the Wild Card spots.

EDIT: Just looked over the Wild Card records over the past few seasons, and it looks like high 80s would be more realistic for having a shot.

Twins have an ok schedule the rest of May, with 3 more off days.

TB, @PIT, @CWS, BOS, TOR

TB just got done sweeping the Yankees. And the Twins never fare well against the AL East. Mauer has now gone 69 straight games without a home run. Unreal for a man 6'5" and 225.

I don't think Glass Joe's back ever fully healed despite his claims otherwise. You don't go from MVP-level play to what he is now without suffering some long-term injury.

Funny because he said he had a great off season and he felt great coming into spring training. 23 mil for a powerless first baseman. That's special.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Perkins gets career save number 100 tonight and Mauers homerless streak reaches 70 games.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Can we stop with the Mauer home run crap? He's not a home run hitter and probably won't be. So effing what?

Funny he hits 28 in 09'. Gets the big contract and boom pretty much nothing power wise. 23 mil for a slap single hitter. His contract can end soon enough.

Re: Minnesota Twins 2014: The Quest for .500

Clutch hitter? He's actually a better hitter in clutch situations over his entire career. With RISP and two outs his average is actually higher than his career average. Same with RISP.
