Re: Minnesota Twins 2010: Part IV - Thome's Quest for 600

While the Twins have the division pretty well wrapped up, they are still in a battle for homefield in the playoffs. They'll at least have a shot at knocking out the Yanks or Rays if they get three games here.

I couldn't care less about getting the overall record if it comes at the expense of over-extending themselves. I don't want them to mentally tank, but I have no problem with them preserving some energy rolling into the playoffs. Eff the Yankees curse, they haven't had a team this deep for a playoff run (even without Morneau :() for a long time.

They did in 2006 and it meant nothing...I want them to get the easiest path possible.

That's a bit TMI.

He forgot "with." He's dunzo at the moment. Actually, he was dunzo about 2 hours ago. He wanted to go to Perkins. We got there, and he realized that that was a bad idea.:D

So you dont want them to have home series until the World Series? Yeah I am never going to agree with that. Maybe if the Twins had proven they can win in the postseason I would be with you, but this team needs all of the home games it can get.

I think you mean:

Chicago: "Here you go, take the game"
Detroit: "No, we really don't want it, you have it"
Chicago: "Seriously, just put us out of our misery and take it"
Detroit: "We already won two, we insist you take this one...okay, if you're going to be like that, we'll take it and be on our way."

1. Never said that I just don't feel they need to go ballz out to do it
2. I couldn't care less how past teams failed in the playoffs, this team is not those teams. If past failures were indicative of the future no team would ever win their first (if you understand what I mean here) title. Again I think we'll need to agree to disagree on this point.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the National League gets home field for the World Series this year.

Yep...they won the "Game That Matters" that is why I said "until" the World Series :)

And Slap Shot I dont want them to go balls out, I just dont want them playing split squad games. Start resting players but not all at once. Give Mauer a day off here, Cuddy a day off there and so on. Sometimes Gardy rests too many players at the same time and they lose games they most likely should win. They are one game out from home field, if they just play it smart they have a real legit shot and it wont take playing Mauer back to back and so on. That is more my point.

If they lose a couple games in the race then just rest everyone ad set your rotation. Until then, play to win the games and rest players :D

I read that "until" wrong then. It sounded the way the conversation between you two was going that the Twins could be the home team for game one of the World Series.

My bad.

Eight two-out runs so far tonight.

Edit: Make that nine.
