Minnesota hosts UNO: 10/15-10/16

Re: Minnesota hosts UNO: 10/15-10/16

So, watch out, gopher nation. Go, Brew Dawg! Does the famous Brew Dawg go to any hockey games? I know if they had scored more in their games, they could have won more of them--according to the Brew Dawg.

As Denny Green once said:

"There's two teams here that want to win. When that happens, only one team can win."

"Nobody can beat us when we play like we play when we play."

Re: Minnesota hosts UNO: 10/15-10/16

After seeing UNO play this past weekend, they should be very competitive this year. They looked very much like a Blasi coached team. They play much like the Sioux. Fun to watch.

OK, I'm confused. Are they like a Blasi coached team or like the Sioux? :confused: I sure don't see the Redhawks as being similar to the Sioux in style, do you?

The speed and conditioning of a North Dakota team, combined with the Alberto V05, turtlenecks and general dreaminess of a Miami team.

With a chewy nougat center.

Better. Now, just work in some animal husbandry references, even though Omaha's technically a more populous city than Minneapolis, and you've got it.
You forgot to mention that Nebraska is flat according to most people who drive down I80. And since we no longer have the stockyards the aromaha name doesn't fit much either. Maybe the name callers should look up per capita incomes by zip code and research where the Red Wings used to have a farm team.

Buckle your seatbelts, UNO has size and grit. Going to their net will be easier said than done.

6-8, 200 Andrej Sustr, a freshman D;
6-5, 225 Pasko Skarica, a senior D;
6-4, 228 Tony Turgeon, a freshman D,
6-4, 207 senior forward Matt Ambroz (Seth's brother) of New Prague.

Re: Minnesota hosts UNO: 10/15-10/16

Hey everyone. Looking forward to an interesting series here this weekend. Hoping for a split, but we'll see.

As part of our move westward, I know many UNO fans are excited about being able to get to more road games, so I hope you'll see some of our contingent up there. We're also hoping to see more of the visitors fanbase here, as we have enough space to see the game, and we think you'll have a good time in our city.

It will be a fun year, we don't know what we have just yet, and we think we know what we're getting into with the WCHA, so its time to find out!

Perfect, big and slow on the Olympic size rink.

Nearly 7' tall and is only 200 pounds? Should be easy for MN's stronger forwards to knock him out of the way.

Knock him out of the way? I suppose you're going to tell me that the refs are just going to let people, like, totally run into our guys in this league too.

One of the big rule changes from the CCHA to the WCHA is the addition of "checking".

Usually players with that stature have questionable skating ability. From what I've read regarding his season last year with Youngstown, Andrej Sustr moves well for a big guy, has good ice vision and uses his size quite well in front of the net.

By way of comparison, UNO have 7 D listed at 6'2"+ and 200+ lbs., the Gophers only have a few guys that come close to that (Schmidt, Helgeson and Alt). With the Blais style of a run and gun high-octane speed offense and some big stay at home D, I think the Gophers will be severely challenged in all aspects of the game, especially 1) clearing their zone and 2) going to the net.

You have a lot to learn, young grasshopper.

I can't wait to make the trip down to UNO next year. Although, I have family in Omaha and I will disagree as I have never had a good time in your city :) . There is some stuff to do in Omaha. I have family there and they are UNO fans so I can't wait for the Maroon and Gold to make the trip next year.

For this weekend, nothing can stop me this time. I will be at Mariucci on Friday no matter what and most likely Saturday too. I hope to see an exciting, competitive series. From the sounds of it, UNO has what people think is going to be a competitive WCHA team. I'm thinking Gopher sweep but it will be a pair of close games. I'll say 3-2 Friday and 4-2 Saturday with and EN goal to seal the deal. Just a guess of optimism. I would think a split or a three point weekend for one team or the other would not be out of the question.

Yeah, Scoobs, the difference is that in the CCHA, they only called Checking when we did it. Everyone else (particularly Michigan, ND, and OSU) could pretty much use anything short of firearms against us and be safe in the assumption that the refs would be "looking the other way".

Looking forward to a challenging season. Based on the last 3 games, the WCHA refs have been a big notch better. Still a few missed calls, but at least they seem to miss calls against both of the teams.

You won't find many of us pining for the CCHA.

Minneapolis/St. Paul metro - 3,269,894
Omaha/Council Bluffs metro - 849,517

I know your actual statement is indeed correct, just pointing out to other people why you used the word "technically."

It's also why I used the words "city," "populous," and "husbandry." I'm a professional communicator.

Still, you get the blue cheese wedge for geography. Roll again.
