What's stupid? The fact a team with a UND president would do it whatever he wants?
They are boycott worthy already... I had no plans to give them money anytime soon.
I guess I don't understand all the angst. Is there some belief that the Minnesota Twins target market consists only of gopher fans, or even just Minnesota fans in general? How would folks feel about the Wild if Craig Leipold had the team celebrate a Packer superbowl win? Its pretty much stupid anytime someone puts the organization they lead second to their personal allegences.
I know they honored the MN women's championship team before, so maybe they are planning to do it again. It could also be that they plan to honor each program only once, or a limited number of times. For instance, I think the NDSU football team is also going to be honored this summer, but I doubt they've been honored each time they won the championship. After all, there are just only so many times you can invite NDSU fans into your home. The Twins are a small market team and recognizing local successes throughout the market area makes sense to me. But you don't recognize UND's success without honoring the Gopher women's team. In fact, they should probably make a bigger event out of the women's championship.
Thank God for the Twins. They stopped the Tigers slide....
Fun to see Gopher fans in social media freaking out about it though.
They've also honored Augustana's basketball team for winning the D2 title and will honor NDSU for the football title June 4th.
Let's not act like this is just Dave St. Peter exercising power as a UND alum.

That answers part of my question. Do they honor every national hockey champion? Or just ones from around the region?
What the answer is affects my feelings on the subject.
That's what I'm getting at. If it's just random, I don't like it more than I don't now. If it's regional, I dislike it less. If it's all national champions, I dislike it less.North and South Dakota are strong Twins territory.
This has nothing to do with management allegiances, and everything to do with marketing.
But I still think it's gross.
Have they ever celebrated the Gopher women?
