Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013 Part II: Mmmm, Iron City Beer!

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013 Part II: Mmmm, Iron City Beer!

Last Friday's loss was nowhere near as bad as the Final Five semi-final loss last year. This season was about winning a National Championship from the beginning and the Gophers have set themselves up for that. They have played their best in the biggest games of the year so far, and there is no bigger game than Friday afternoon. My hopes have been high since the start of the season and I am not about to lower them now. I bought tickets to Grand Rapids and expect the Gophers to show up with their A-game ready to go.

To the doubters of my statement:

Imagine BJugs or Twocox getting hurt in Fri's game. We'd be hearing "Ugh! Meaningless game, and we lose a great player/leader! NO! This sucks!" Just sayin'. ;)

I qualified it with "besides adding hardware." Please take the WHOLE post. :)

For seedings for the granddaddy of trophies? It meant nothing. Nada. Zip.

And you could say the same thing about a National Championship.:D So what's your point? Koho's point is well taken. The Gophers have yet to show the consistency of past Gopher championship teams to win a championship. That was evident again in the F5 this year. Last year's team was actually more consistent than this year.

The National Title is the granddaddy. Those other trophies? Nice bonuses. That's all. Nationally? No one remembers if you won your conference trophy or tournament trophy. They remember the national champ. :)

No it's not. :). The '02 team didn't win the Broadmoor and neither did last season's FF team. And again they had 3 losses in their past 12 played including 5 wins in a row before playing a CC team that was far more desperate for a win. I swear this team could save a baby from a burning building and some fans would still ***** if they didn't also put out the fire.

Well, if they put out the fire in the first place, they probably wouldn't have to save the baby.

C'mon Brent, you sure you want you want to bet your life on that statement? And the last shot at the Broadmoor to boot?;) I believe the point here was Koho made a statement about the Gophers struggling and I concur. To negate their lack of effort in the F5 to somehow minimize their systemic inconsistency is dubious at best. This is a "good" Gopher team that has struggled all season with consistency from one game to the next. "IF" they get it figured out and win a Natty, they will be the most inconsistent of all of Lucia's championship teams to win it.

And, while it may be a fault with this year's team, my opinion remains that when it's that "big game" (of which the F5 is not this year) they do find that extra oomph. I see the BC game, the BSU series, the Notre Dame game, etc.

I honestly hope you're right Brent. But I don't think this is the same team that beat Notre Dame and BC. BSU is not a plumbline for me...they won 6 games all year.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013 Part II: Mmmm, Iron City Beer!

if we get a gopher nodak second round match up it will be the best game in the tournament to watch! i love when these two teams get together its always a battle and no matter the year im always nervous going into games against those dirt farmers! but how sweet it would be to knock out the green symbols two years in a row, a nice going away present to from goldy before we step into the big school conference come next year

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013 Part II: Mmmm, Iron City Beer!

I didn't read the game thread from the CC game so I will post this here.....

What the $%^&*(*&^%$%^&*(*&^%$#$%^&*( is wrong with Reilly?!?!?!?! This a a delayed reaction but he looked like complete #$%^&*^%$#%^& garbage on Friday and against BSU. He looks slow and uninterested. What happened to him?

Hard to call out one player after that kind of game when guys like Bjugs, Haula, and Budish are supposed to carry you and they decide not to show up, but Reilly REALLY stuck out to me Friday night.

Yes, please look past yale! I mean, no way a 2 seed gets beat by a 15 seed right?

Babies are overrated anyway. They are basically really needy, expensive and worthless pets. I mean, a puppy or kitten you can fight with and bat them around n' stuff. With a baby? Straight to jail. Not to mention, have you ever tried to potty train one of those leeches? It takes FOREVER. Gestation 9 months? 18 years before they can be " productive " ? All in all, they are trouble. Walk on by,I say, unless you want to warm your hands by the fire.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013 Part II: Mmmm, Iron City Beer!

Aaah, yes. Bypassing Yale for the UND match up already and totally disregarding the massive egg laying on Friday night against CC. Typical.

The good news is they don't have to win the Broadmoor to win the title. Time will tell.

Are you really saying that there was NO DESIRE to win the final five? Nada? Zip?

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013 Part II: Mmmm, Iron City Beer!

Do you think you could even get out of bed if you had to play Bemidji four times in a row?

Would you want to be seen outside the house if you could only beat them by one goal in three of those four?
