I still refer to it as Williams and always will.

As long as we're reminiscing like old men because we are...how 'bout the wall that looked like someone shot it with a machine gun and used pucks as ammunition. That was classic.

Taylor Cammarata was on the Pipeline Show in Edmonton talking about the NHL Draft and his commitment to the Gophers. Listen Here

Also of importance to note:

Arthur Staple (NYI beat writer) said:
As for the "Justin Schultz" CBA rule (four years from draft year to sign a contract), #NHL proposed extending that time, and PA rejected it.

This could have a significant impact on whether Haula and Condon are back for their Senior seasons.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013: From Dinkytown to Steel City!

Some of the favorite "non-game" memories I recall are reaching through the hole in the glass to shake Goldy's hand, the smell of food in the crazily concocted concourses (say that 5 times fast), hoping to get to the arena early enough to see daylight shining through the windows, how much fun everyone in the crowd was having (if you aren't old enough to remember going to games then that might sound like a stupid comment but there is a contrast) even when things were tight on the ice, how on top of the ice the crowd felt, the lighting was different, etc.

I am sure there's an allure there that can only be had as a kid first attending games around 6 or 7 that you might not acquire much later in life. I only get to 2-4 a year now, but I see the twinkle in my boys' eyes when we go to Mecca that surely is an equal to what I felt way (okay, way, way, way, way) back then. ;)

8-0. Woohoo.
It's crazy to think how badly they struggled in their non-conference games last year compared to this!

Now if they can cut down on the losses and leaving points behind against bottom half WCHA teams they should be sitting pretty in both conference standings and PWR.

It was good to hear Condon say in his interview last night that their 6th place WCHA standing (granted, with games in hand) was really bothering the team. Sounds like the guys are really motivated to change that.

I know it's always the talk of the college hockey poll/pohls/poles, but I was commenting to my friends last night before the game how interesting it is to (currently) be a middle of the pack WCHA team, but be the #1 team in the nation and #6 in PWR(before the game). That truly shows how worthless the polls are in the grand scheme of college hockey. Looking forward to a full slate of WCHA games from here on out!

I think Polls are more of a snap shot of where people think a team is at the present time, where as the Pairwise is an analysis of total body of work.

Right now the Gophers are playing like the best team in the country. That hasn't been the case all season.

As for their conference standing, they have two games in hand on UNO, so can't put a ton of stock into that. Happy it bothers the team though.

Exactly. Currently 4 of the 5 teams "ahead" of us in the WCHA standings have played 2 more games than us with 4pts separating 1st from 6th. But I'm glad the players are motivated by the 6th place spot. This weekend is huge, these 4pts up for grabs could go a long way in March.

Four Roses Bourbon

Four Roses Bourbon

Four Roses Update

In the 40's the Four Roses owners recieved an offer it couldn't refuse from Seagrams at the time they were the top selling bourbon in the country. In the 1950's Seagrams decided to discontinue all straight bourbons (They did keep the Four Roses Blended bourbon.) in the USA including Four Roses in their portfolio to concentrate on their Canadian whiskey blends. A few years later Seagrams decided to shift their marketing efforts to rapid growing markets like Europe and Asia it became the best selling bourbon in both areas. About ten years ago the parent company of Seagrams sold the Four Roses distillery to Vivendi who then sold most of their brands to Diago, a couple of years later sold the brand to current owner Kirin Brewery of Japan. Kirin decided to concentrate on Four Roses straight bourbon and discontinue the blended bourbon. For the last eight years the distillery has been winning awards and deservingly so because the stuff is awesome! Sorry if this wasn't hockey related but all the whiskey tall got me thinking about Four Roses. I hope this helps.:p;)

Except that winning those two games in hand only get you a tie with UNO. :)

We have one of the easiest schedules remaining in the conference, along with the Purple Cows:

That said, whoever prevails will have earned it.

Re: Minnesota Gophers 2012-2013: From Dinkytown to Steel City!

Is the Virg Foss trophy just for early season WCHA play, or does the OOC record figure in?

Just early season WCHA. I can't remember what the cut-off date is though. We can give it to UNO if you'd like.
