Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2012-2013

Kudos again to the UND website for comprehensive coverage.

They post the full video of the post game press conferences for both teams.

I found both to be extremely interesting.

The UND presser is full of interesting insights from the other side and ends with some moving emotion from players and coach.

The Minnesota presser gives more than we ever get from GopherSports.

We've agreed on this before and do so here again. Excellent job by those responsible to create these videos. Their institution obviously takes their women's hockey program seriously.

The UND post game press conference is the best that I've ever seen. It strips away all the veneer that otherwise has a role to play when cruising over the surface of the deepest and most protected emotions that are at the core of every human being and lays bare the core essence of how they feel about that to which they have dedicated this chapter of their lives.

In the end this press conference has absolutely nothing to do with hockey and everything to do with what it is to be a human being. Nothing going on here except the deepest truths about their rival, their program and themselves. A very moving experience.

As fans it is sometimes easy to forget that players are in the end, human beings. Playing hockey is what they do (for now), it is not who they are. There's a big difference between the two as imperceptably intertwined as they often seem to be.

Maybe for MLAm's heartfelt part of this interview on behalf of herself and her sister the Lam detractors will cut them some slack and understand that they too, beyond everything else, are "just" human beings.

That's Monique in the interview, not Jocelyne.

Thanks. My mistake. I thought I heard one of the questions directed to "Jocelyne" but upon turning the volume up...not so.

But I don't think it really detracts from the point that I was making. I'll edit my post to reflect the correction.

I happened to stroll by the twins while they were gathering with family & friends after their semifinal win over UW at Ridder. I knew one was Monique and one was Jocelyne. That's the best I could determine.

A special congratulations to the University of Minnesota Women's Club Hockey team on winning the ACHA National Tournament over the weekend:

Way to go ladies; I'm going to play this video and cheer for you!

"We just didn't have it today," Bloomfield said. "We just couldn't get the momentum going and we struggled the whole game. We just couldn't get the flow. It just wasn't our day. We've had a great season. They were a big team, they came back after us. They did that the other night when we beat them. They just never quit."

Just like our varsity team! :)

Does anyone know if/where Minnesota vs North Dakota (round 6) will be available for viewing live?

Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2012-2013

Thanks ARM, that would be a pay site, correct?
No. I think the NCAA requires that any NCAA Tournament Webcasts be free. That's the way it has been in previous tournaments.
