Word to that. The Gophers face North Dakota for the second straight week in Saturday’s NCAA tournament quarterfinal. It’s the sixth time the two teams have met this season.
“Yes, it gets monotonous,” senior forward Becky Kortum said. “I like playing different people.”
...as long as it's not the Raiders & Ponies I can enjoy. An old Kate Flug video, just because hands on future Gophers are fun.

"So the Gophers can't simply show up and expect to sail into the semifinals. This could be as tough of an opponent for them as any in the field."
Couldn't agree more!

Is that the offending player and stick just entering the photo behind KT?Winning goal celebration as it appeared in Sunday's Star Tribune

I can definitively say "yes" to brooky's question.I went back and looked at the highlight video [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlZXY1R-L0Q&feature=youtu.be ], even frame-by-frame at around the 56-57 second mark, and I honestly couldn't tell if that's the "offending player" entering 'the crime scene', or not. Is that KT jumping in the still, for sure? In the video she appears to jump more directly in front of the goal, whereas in the still she appears to be more on the side. Hard to tell, though, because of the different angles each was taken from...In any case it was a nasty cheapshot that should never have happened.

I don't agree with that. Yes, UND is a rugged team that will fight you tooth and nail, play right on the line between legal and not, and cross it fairly often. But I don't think that they all fall under a "no sportsmanship" umbrella. We scored a lot of goals on North Dakota this year, had a lot of celebrations, and no other UND player ever did anything close to that. LaShomb, on the other hand, shows up in at least 5 celebrations where she is getting physically involved with Minnesota players who are celebrating. E.g., here she hooks Menefee around the neck after Bozek scores the first goal in the WCHA final. I hope she gets some counseling before this inability to handle disappointment spills into other areas of her life.I have not seen North Dakota play all season, but that one incident validates everything written about them on this forum as a dirty team with no sportsmanship. An embarrrassment to women's hockey.
I hope she gets some counseling before this inability to handle disappointment spills into other areas of her life...So my personal view is that the UND team played a great game, and one of their players acted like a thug.
Found it on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYw6TNpkWTURosen had Noora, Kelly T and Rachel R as guests on Rosen's Sport Sunday. Good segment. Don't know yet if there's video available.

Not to defend LaShomb, but after having watched it several times and frame by frame, her stick is definitely under Menefee's right arm. If you watch LaShomb's posture her body was past Menefee's and continually moving further past her consequently allowing her almost no leverage if she was yanking on her stick in an attempt to pull Menefee down. In addition, Menefee's very sudden stop to her left in front of the net from a high speed rush, especially the sharp turn of her upper body, looked like it might be enough for her to lose her balance. So, it wouldn't have taken much effort from LaShomb to assist Menefee to the ice of which LaShomb had very little at her disposal.
Seconded.I can't agree with that........
