Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2012-2013

Taking my daughters to tonight's game.

Can I get center ice tickets at the gate or should I expect to get them outside?

Please advise.

Thanks!

You have two choices...

(1) Most of the center ice seating is the chair-style seats that are $10 apiece, and you should have no problems getting tickets at the window. Just plan to get there as close to 6:00 (an hour before game time) as possible.

(2) There is one row of general admission bench seating in the center ice sections and the U. is running a promotion for tonight -- $4 general admission tickets if you purchase them in advance online at https://mygophersports.com using the promotional code "GOPHERFANS". Print out the tickets at home (or at your work... whatever). But then you really must arrive early to claim those seats because they fill quickly (again, doors open at 6:00).

Understood.

Just a slight add, I believe both sections 12 and 13 have row 1 (on the glass) general admission. Rule of thumb, bench seats general admission, chair back reserved.

Not sure which game it is, but BTN shows one of the the BSU games will shown Monday at 9:30 a.m.

As C.D. pointed out, Eeyore's definitive moment from last night will likely be A.K. not scoring on a breakaway. Luckily, she continues to find situations where she has zero trouble finishing. Coming out of the break, she scored nine goals in three games, and then didn't find the net in three straight once she was injured. She has goals in each of the last five games, so I'll take that as a sign that she's no longer as limited as she was for a bit. Plus, I thought she just looked great out there overall last night, and our team as a whole was back to doing the good things we saw over most of the first half.

What I like in particular are our breakouts. Usually, we are able to escape our zone very fluidly, and when we didn't get out on the first try, there wasn't any panic. It helps that all of our D can handle the puck and we're so strong at center.

I was glad she got it out of the way early. It wasn't a night for suspense. I agree that she looked healthier than she has since early January.

I'm confused. My copy of this morning's Strib says that Noora had eighteen saves on seventeen shots. Are we padding stats, and to what effect?

Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2012-2013

BSU did what no team has done this year...Take the Gophers to overtime. 3-2 win in overtime however for the Gophers.

Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2012-2013

Jalosuo's goal at 3:48 of overtime gives Minnesota its first lead of the game.

And her mom and sister were there to see it.

GOPHERS 3, Bemidji State 2, OT

Recap from the U. - Jalosuo Tallies Game-Winner in Overtime Triumph; subtitle: Megan Bozek is now the school-record holder for career points by a defenseman (135).

Postgame interview video:

EDIT: And BSU goaltender Jessica Havel played out of her mind tonight with 41 saves. She correctly earned the second star of the game.

The scoreboard at the end of Friday's game said BSU had taken 18 shots on goal, hence 18 saves for Noora. However, they adjusted that to only 17 SOG by the Beavers and forgot to change Noora's save count. It was officially 17.

Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2012-2013

I thought Coach Frost did a nice thing by starting the six seniors on their last regular season appearance in the home rink. I thought Downey's appearance in particular was a brave performance, she could glide straight ahead but changing direction or speed was fairly obviously a problem for her.

Best wishes to all of the seniors. For now, there is still plenty of hockey to play, as the Beavers of BSU so forcefully reminded the whole team and all of the fans in attendance.

BSU played a strong game but in the end the better team was the team that won.

I was told at the game today that this was the first time that Mira's mom had seen her daughter play as a Golden Gopher. If so, she certainly picked the right game to attend, having come all the way over from Lieksa!

To be honest, I thought Havel could very easily have been the #1 star despite the loss.

She was at last night's game as well.

Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Women's Hockey 2012-2013

What the Christ?

The Gophers really didn't play very hard or very well. That said:

1) Bemidji blocked a gazillion shots and in general played very hard;
2) Havel played out of her mind to stop ones they didn't block;
3) The Gophers missed a lot of chances when they got Havel moving around;
4) To say that the refs let them play all weekend would be an understatement.

The Gopher power play in OT was a disaster all the way up to the play on which they scored. Jalosuo jumped up and they entered the zone four abreast and no one in green ever saw that she was there.
