Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey: 2011-2012 Season Thread

Re: Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey: 2011-2012 Season Thread

A first period defensive lapse, another early in the second, Bemidji goalie standing on her head. Tonight was a little TOO exciting.

The game winner by West was an absolute beauty as she held the puck on a 2 on 1 until she was in close on Tomcikova. Z was still necessarily aware of the threat of the pass, and in the end had no time to react to the snap over her stick side shoulder into the upper corner.

My favorite play though might have been the no goal that came shortly thereafter when Davis and Terry came in 2 on 2 with Bozek as a trailer. Terry held and held and instead of trying for Davis in front dropped to Bozek. The absolute rocket unleashed by Bozek from the top of the circle gave Tomcikova no chance whatsoever to react. Bemidji was fortunate in that the shot hit the goalie in the right shoulder where I suspect even with her pads that thing is going to leave a mark. She had no idea where the puck had gone but it landed in front of her and her D won the scramble to get the puck to safety.

Bemidji played a very good game. But tonight Minnesota finally, FINALLY, got the goals they needed to come up with the victory.

Big Ten Network shows Bemidji State at Minnesota in women's hockey today from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. CST. Of course, this could be the Saturday game that was broadcast live; however, BTN was also in the building on Friday, and the guide says "Student U", so it may be that they will be showing Friday's game. I plan to set my DVR and find out. The schedule also shows UMD @ Wisconsin from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday on BTN.

Thanks for the tip...hopefully it was the game I missed due to technical difficulties that I was told didn't exist. I'll mention it on the UMD thread.

They are airing a Joe Paterno special, although the listing shows the Bemidji vs Minny game.

I suppose it will be wall-to-wall JoePa until the moment a male basketball player approaches a court with a basketball.

Same thing here. I have seen this happen more than once before on this channel where the schedule shows one program but it airs another. It's a good way for the network to motivate people to ignore them. Maybe they meant 3:00 P.M. GMT!

Here's hoping the same thing doesn't happen with tomorrow's game.

I'm in EST and it shows on my cable guide as airing 4pm - 6pm EST.

Where are they now? Securing Pond Hockey Championship trophies, that's where! :)

Gopher alums Krista Johnson and Allie Sanchez, along with their team Top Shelf Tricks, won the women's division of the 2012 U.S. Pond Hockey Championships at Lake Nokomis last weekend. Congrats, ladies!

I was thinking about heading to the NHC for the games this weekend. Can anyone tell me if people who don't have a daughter on either team are allowed to attend? Thank you!

Good humour and pretty funny for the moment.

But the way the USSA is going, which is just a precursor for the way most nations will probably go by virtue of being encouraged by the bad examples that are set by others and then ultimately considering such bad examples as precedents, the reprobati in charge, having no resistance from the suckling whipped dogs that most citizens are, could very well need to be applied to with questions such as yours in a few short years.

Thank you. I'm still on the fence as far as attempting to gain admission due to a number of additional unknowns. Such as age limits and if the 50+ person is allowed to attend...gender requirements, any exclusions for males? Females? Is there an interview process to determine legitimacy of motive for attending, tricky little surveys to determine if the potential attendee has an acceptable reason for attempting to procure admittance...survays that can't be fudged, and most importantly, are there any nefarious motive security detection devices utilized to screen potential attendees? Polygraphs? I thank you again Bb!

Apparantly back pocket recording devices are not on the banned list yet.;)

I know that I was persona non grata in Bemidji a few years back, but they've apparently let bygones be bygones. I guess that cheering for your own team, insulting the refs (despite the "code of conduct" read before most games), and asking the P.A. announcer for a time check at certain points of each period are allowed, but taunting someone from the host team is out-of-bounds. :o Fair enough. :D
