Minnesota Girls High School Hockey IV

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey IV

Does anyone know how many teams Minnesota will be sending to Nationals this year in Boston?

The Sky Blue team won the playoff game in the fall against the Shattuck 16u team, but I haven't heard that they are actually going to Massachusetts. I'm guessing only the two Shattuck teams and the Green Giant team out of the fall 14u league that Minnesota Hockey runs will be the only teams.

the Minnesota Wild made an unsolicited offer to asst coach Darby Hendrickson to miss last Saturday's game against Edmonton to fly home and see his son play in the championship game.

So he got to see his son and Minnetonka beat Duluth East and win the state tournament. That's pretty cool!!

Clarkson incoming 2018 class has Morgan Helgeson from Hill Murray. Can anyone tell me anything about her game? thanks.

First off, a disclaimer...I have seen Hill Murray a few times but it has been to mostly to see their first line of Boreen(Minnesota), Blinkhorn(BU), and Kaufman(Merrimack) play. I think the thing I can say about Helgeson is that that I don't remember a lot about her and that's in a good way as in not making glaring mistakes. Hill Murray as a whole is a very good skating team and she can hold her own in that area.

Early on, Hill Murray relied heavily on their first line for scoring but I recall an interview with the coach who said he was pleased with the improvement the team made in secondary scoring as the year progressed.

My guess is that she will possibly be a lower line, fit into a role, kind of player for Clarkson.

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey IV

Thanks to both of you. I did see her stats previously. Just was looking for any other info on her game. Clarkson graduates 3 senior forwards who were all role players and did not score much during their careers. Hopefully she can provide a bit more scoring punch to a 2nd or 3rd line.

Not just high school hockey....I was especially amazed with this stat:
"The tally of Minnesota athletes would be even higher if the federation included one of the hottest sports in high school—trapshooting. This year, that sport will attract 12,000 boys and girls in Minnesota—making it more popular than boys and girls hockey combined."

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey IV

2 things for MN girls HS hockey thread people...please advise...

1. What has happened to the USHSO threads? All I see is this when I try to access them:

"Forbidden

You don't have permission to access /forums/viewforum.php on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Apache Server at www.ushsho.com Port 80"

2. What has this MN HS girls hockey world come to with only 4 girls making the US/Canada series? Are our 2001/2002/2003 girls that weak compared to the rest of the US now or were our 1998-2000 girls that strong? Or is it that Joel J is no longer the head coach? No question that the 4 that made it are strong but 4/20 is not very MN like.

Seriously...is there someone who might know what is going on? Is there something going on with the ushsho.com forums? I get some 403 Forbidden message. Has anyone else gotten it for the last week or so or is it just me?

Thanks.

Gretchen Branton (Wayzata Trojans) commits to Clarkson University for 2021-2022

Anyone see her in action on the ice. Played HS as a freshman with G17/A11/Pts28 in 28G. Some great numbers for a frosh.

Heard on another board focusing on Minnesota High School Sports that the admins are aware of the issue and have been in touch with Tech Support. This is a new issue that they have not seen before, so the fix is taking longer than previous outages they have had.

This is the first post of this version of MN Girls Hockey...how about a where are they now for this group from any posters in the know in this slow season. Interesting that many of these girls are Seniors this upcoming year (the seniors from this at least)

Maybe there is a way to post a link or a where they are now to the side of the quote above or just copy the names you know SOMETHING about via friends/family/internet. This was a quick dry run for me...pretty interesting and successful group! Kudos ladies!

Re: Minnesota Girls High School Hockey IV

"Lauren Boyle D 2015 Eden Prairie Sr at OHIO STATE, transferred from UND(rip), U22 National team"

A OSU poster can confirm but I think Boyle hasn't transferred and has been at Ohio State for her career.
