Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Not a fan of the mesh logos being used. Just like when they used to put the Winter Carnival logo in the ice, you can see a white outline to the logos that is whiter than the rest of the ice, just bothers me. Otherwise looks good, they were still building it up more today.

The are much much easier to install and far less time consuming. Painting the logos, especially sponsor logos is quite challenging.

The home white jersey is up on the site. Pretty much the negative of the away jersey - which I kind of suspected. However, I was really hoping for the 70s inspired white jersey instead. Either way, thank God the awful mutant piano key toothless wonder dog is nowhere to be seen!

I know, and I don't blame them for using them, I just wish they looked as good as the hand painted ones.

Looking at all the comments about the new jerseys it appears that I am the only one in the world who actually likes the current Husky head logo, lol.

All of the new jerseys use the modern, NHL-style cut. "In keeping with the theme of the other two jerseys, we wanted the whites to have a classic, clean look," said head coach Mel Pearson.

Sorry, two thumbs down on the white from the jersey guy.
1. Words = Boring, it's been done 100 times, now twice by us
2. We already have one of these in black
3. Missed opportunity to give the team a fresh new image
4. Classic and clean - marketing speak for blank and boring
Summary - Not worth the wait. Bring back the Piano Dog, at least we had a logo.

Overall I get the set of three jerseys a C+ and I think that's me trying to be positive. I'll give them props for the UP shoulder patch and one time for the "MICHIGAN TECH" crested jersey, but not twice. I'll even give them a point for the "modern, NHL-style cut" since they are pushing it so hard and Tech has always had the square "sweater" cut. On the down side the duplication of a jersey design you already have in another color is the lazy, quick way out. You also just cut your new jerseys sales by about 25%. I'll give Tech a nuetral pass on the gold jersey in the name of tradition. If they want to get into the B range next time, they have to show me something new and an "A"... Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves. They're going to need a whole room full of free thinkers to get to that level.

Bummer, I expected more...

Might as well have stuck with the current home design if they were just going to go with the white version of the basketball-inspired roads.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Would people agree though that these are a step ahead of quite the ugliest jerseys in tech history before these.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

I actually thought the panels were a nice touch.
I agree, mainly because it had never been done before. Every other jersey since the dawn of the team had horizontal arm stripes and horizontal body stripes. Anything new is good. Now if they just could have put the logos on correctly for the first set, that would have been even better. I guess when you're only winning 10 games a season, you don't ahve the option to just reject the whole set and send them back. For as tight as a university controls their image (and at an engineering school no less) you would think someone would tell the manufacturer what the correct angle of the cresting is supposed to be. When you look at one at a time, you might not notice, but when they are side by side it is laughable.
