Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Our recruiting class should be fine. I think Top 20 is about right.

All stats include playoffs to date (Vallis' Omaha Lancers are still playing):

Petan (BCHL) - 61GP, 41-53-94, 76 PIM
Kharia (BCHL) - 58GP, 29-52-81, 71 PIM
Gould (BCHL) - 66GP, 38-39-77, 34 PIM
Vallis (USHL) - 58GP, 20-20-40, 59 PIM
Hyland (BCHL) - 53GP, 14-30-44, 57 PIM

Phillips (BCHL) - 26GP, 2.01, .921, 5SO
Phillips (OJHL) - 21GP, 3.06, .925, 1SO

Copley (USHL) - 45GP, 3.12, .907, 2SO

Those guys are the top performers, and look good-to-solid. Plus, we were told C.J. Eick might be one of the fastest guys in the WCHA.

Saw him a couple weeks ago, very quick, solid on the pk and has a quick shot. I figure he'll fit right in after he rung one off the post on a breakaway.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

tyler heinonen after starting with 4 g and 6 points in first 20 games scored 17 goals and had 27 points in his last 30 games. Look for a big season out him next year for Muskegon and another solid recruit for the huskies in 2013.

Be interesting to see how Tyler works out. JR told him that Tech couldn't spare a scholarship, but he was welcome to try out for the team when he got here. Mel watch him and offered a full ride.

To put this in perspective, the #3,4 and 5 goal scorers in the USHL had 19,14, 17 goals in their last 30 games.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

So not to fan the flames here but just thinking out loud. Of the teams in the Wcha, who might have a top 10 recruiting class?. Here's my guess.
1. DU
2. UND
3. Minnesota
4. Wisconsin
5. MTU.

other teams with top classes.

BC
BU,

these are the ones I know about, but what about miami, michigan, msu, unh, Duluth.. That would be 11 teams above us. If we are in this company, then it's a pretty darn good class. I think what makes as much difference as anything else is the development a player gets after getting to Houghton. I would put the development of a kid in Houghton as equal to anyone and better than most.

another random question, when is the coach going overseas.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

For those on the tech side of Tech Hockey Guide - I'm having issues viewing the site with Internet Explorer. I get errors like stack overflow and it runs pretty slow. I can view through Firefox with less problems, but you might want to look into this as it might be reducing the number of casual visitors as IE is a pretty standard issue web browser.
FYI,
Ryan J

I've been trying to replicate these issues for awhile with my work computer, however I have been unable to. Without seeing the issue first hand myself, I'm unable to correct it. Hopefully, when I roll out site updates heading into the next season, they will correct themselves.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

I use IE at work and I don't get any errors when I go to THG, but I do think it runs/loads slower than when I use Chrome at home. And the network at work is much, much faster than when I have my computer tethered to my cell phone at home.

Re: Michigan Tech Offseason Thread

Reading the article on the upcoming Naples meeting lead me to thinking where and what Tech was doing one year ago. The angst, the wondering and now, no angst and just wondering, happily.
