Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

The radio guys are "expecting the dominoes to fall this week" on the asst. coaching vacancies, repeated the rumor that Red and Mel are interested in the same candidates.

Yeah, you figure both of them would like to wrap that up this week.
I'm still shocked that none of the names from USA Hockey have been mentioned.

Well, UM only needs one and Tech needs two so what are the chances all three of these guys get hired? More names may come into play for Pearson for his second assistant.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

There is still no word on Whitten, but with Pearson needing to change the team culture now (meaning he's already started), I would not be surprised to see him bring in his own 2nd. Now granted, there was only one job posting - anyone know if it's still up?

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

Michigan has picked Brian Wiseman of the Houston Aeros as the new assistant.

Michigan has picked Brian Wiseman of the Houston Aeros as the new assistant.
With that news, here is my short list for Mel's Staff:
Matt Herr - Kent Lions Head Coach (prep school)
Bill Muckalt - New Mexico Head Coach (NAHL)
Ryan Rezmierski -USNTDP Director of Player Personnel
Chadd Cassidy - USNTDP U-18 Assistant Coach
Damon Whitten

As expected, U of M's finalists were Wiseman and Herr.

Based on a few interesting comments from MGoBlog, it sounds like Muckalt might not be the right hire for either school.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

Whitten is in the running for assistant. he has another year to go on his contract, so will remain at Tech in some capacity. IMHO he's done a great job keeping the program together through all this.

On the off chance she's still reading USCHO, happy birthday MEg!

Here's a little belated B-Day present for MEG. Never let your love die...

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

Someone complained earlier about Michigan Tech's academic's falling off so I thought I would post the APR info since the 2009-2010 APR info is now out:

MTU Hockey 2005 - 2006 950
MTU Hockey 2006 - 2007 960
MTU Hockey 2007 - 2008 957
MTU Hockey 2008 - 2009 977
MTU Hockey 2009 - 2010 987

I assume you're referring to that pompous dumbarse who posted a mindless essay about the XC team to Tech's Facebook page. He had no idea what he was rambling on about.

Now that University Marketing itself is getting its news from the Tech Hockey Guide (re: Facebook/Twitter), I expect you guys to be out beating the bushes for the name of our next top recruiter.

Just saw that. Good for THG/Flashy, but a sad statement for the Institution's marketing team/SID to be pointing to an amateur/fan/enthusiast and effectively saying, "He's doing a better job than us, follow him".

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

Proper marketing has always been an issue for Tech in all facets not just sports.

Maybe the Tech Hockey Guide needs to run a story that rumors are swirling that Ian has been relieved of his hockey related SID duties to allow him to focus on D-II sports and see if Tech picks up the story and runs it... That would be the true test.
