Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

Maybe the Tech Hockey Guide needs to run a story that rumors are swirling that Ian has been relieved of his hockey related SID duties to allow him to focus on D-II sports and see if Tech picks up the story and runs it... That would be the true test.
Ryan J

but ... wait ... isn't this true? I thought it was being consolidated under Wes???

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

Did any body else notice that the MTU Coaches page still doesn't list Pearson?

I had noticed that, you woudl think Mel would eb added the day he got hired. But it seems like you can't expect things like that or posting drive time every week to happen with the Tech sports website.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

I'd give money to see what would happen if you posted that rumor.

I think it ought not to be drive time any longer. That is way too 1963. It ought to be much more like DU does it.

Video tape his press conference/ interview with Dirk and post it, dvd it, and send it to all the tv stations/ newspapers/ cable TV operators within 400 miles, Fed ex. they will run it at midnight. You'd be surprised how many people are watching at midnight.

If any posters are in town on the 6th, come to the KBC if you feel like it after work. No blonde this time flashy, she's in Paris which is where I ought to be.

Let's just say the Michigan track on DIRT 3 has a few familiar sights.

For those of you that care, Jamie Russell will be announced as an assistant with Nate Leman at Providence.

Very good for him. Will be hard for him to uproot but the fact that he found a place is quite good. He will do fine there.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

Yes, congrats to Jamie!

Anyone else surprised there wasn't an announcment on assitants this week? I wonder if Mel is having trouble finding people or he's just taking his time.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

Is there any connection between Leaman and Jamie?

I thought the Minnesota rumors made more sense.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

I'm still upset with Yale over this rumor from the (Calumet) Copper Country Evening News, July 11, 1905:
"The announcement in the Evening News a few days ago that Hod Stuart had received an offer from Yale university to coach the hockey team there during the coming winter has caused much talk in hockey circles in the copper country."
poachers!

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

Brian renfrew was in town last week and is supposedly deciding between being mel's top assistant or a HC in the ushl.

Before you get too excited, it's not like Muckalt has a resume full of coaching or recruiting experience; this past year was his first as a coach I believe of any sort. Does he have potential? Yes, but not proven yet by any means.

which ushl team? The fact that he's been a top assistant already seems a HC job may be more desirable, but NCAA is a step up and has more (national) spotlight so we'll see.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

Recruiting visits have started.
I believe B.Pietila has signed his LOI.
Sounds like D.Johnstone is coming in this fall.
