MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

I don't think BP will be on the second line right off. I think you'll see McCadden as second line center at least to start. And I'm not convinced that Baker is a first line winger. He's been off for quite a while.
I'd put BP on the wing with Olson. AP played pretty well at the end of the year. You might see him with johnstone and Kero.
Third, I'm not convinced brown is the guy for second defense, I liked stebner, he showed a lot at the end of the year, though he certainly did not do well early on, though I think he was playing hurt a lot of the year.
EDIT:
thinking about it further, you might see Furne on the first line. He can really score. I think it's a lot to ask of BP to play at a top WCHA level right out of the box.

If anyone is ready, it is U18 players as they play mainly a college schedule. So you're saying B.Pietila will be a first liner and not a second liner as Olson will be their first line center.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

I noticed that a L'Esperance from somewhere in Detroit was drafted fairly early in the USHL draft. Perhaps the walk on kid gets a spot on the team to convince a brother/cousin/etc to come to Tech...With a name like that, from the same area, they must be related. And if he was taken where he was in the USHL draft, he's probably a pretty good player.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

McCadden is a faceoff specialist/checker who chips in a handful of greasy points. He won't be centering a scoring line as long as players with more offensive upside are available.

I agree Baker could very well not be first line material any longer with all the time he missed, and depending on how well he heals up his shot could be affected too. It was not the first time his shoulder had to be reconstructed. But until we see whether or not that's the case, I consider him in the mix with Furne and B. Pietila for the top two LW spots.

EDIT: As for Brown not being second-pair D, to be honest, I don't think anyone outside the first pair is a lock for Top 4. There is likely to be a lot of competition for ice time among the remaining defensemen.

Sorry, you're right. My thought was that Red would always make the freshmen earn their time and I doubt it will be any different with Mel. Your point is well taken though. At first I think he will be on the energy line.
I think McCadden might not be a big scorer but he is an experienced centerman and plays good defensive hockey, plus winning faceoffs is important in the offensive zone if there is to be any offense.

BTW, still not to disappointed MTU didn't go harder after Erkkila?
Word is that there's still a chance of him earning a scholarship to MTU. I certainly wouldn't be against it, I know a lot of his family quite well and always support giving the local boys a shot. I hear he's been bulking up and has potential to be "the next Chris Conner". Joel L'Esperance reportedly (third hand rumor) is willing to sign up too, and I think he has multiple offers.
None of this is paint store quality information. Maybe the Goodwill store.

Joel played AAA for Detroit Compuware this past year.

"Fights for the puck like there is no tomorrow, plays physical and tries to make things happen in all three zones of the ice"

"Quick, pro-style shot and a natural center"

Something new, or just working that rumor I sent your way?

I would guess they're just suspended and will be back in 2 weeks. When I was suspended I was shown as banned even though I was just on a 2 week timeout. Enjoy their time away.

I'm not so sure about that. I think the time-out is strictly for people who usually contribute and are civil, but do something to pi55 board off. Those two...had nothing to contribute, IMO.

Then again, they seem to allow Hokydad to stick around and bother PC fans.

Hokydad has extra, they don't ban someone who gives them money.
