Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

It looks like we won't have to see the ****ing backstabbers from UND, DU, UM, UW, CC, UMD or UNO ever again after they turn their backs on 50 years of history.

Great. So they're leaving, but hey - we can be angry at them!

if ... if ... if all this had been known in March I wonder if Tech would have pulled the trigger on Jamie?

They didn't have much of a choice in canning JR. What I wonder is if they would've spent $1.5 million to get Pearson. Surely not all of his salary is donor-funded.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

WMU is out of discussions, time to promote what we have to offer in the future.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

It is going to be very awesome when the traitors realize they ****ed up, because BGSU, MSU-M, LSSU, etc. fold and the tournament goes back down to 12 teams. Not awesome that teams fold, that is terrible.

While I wish Tech was on the other side of the fence here, it would just feel dirty to know that we align with the scum from UND and DU.

ha. so the big name coach leaves and the cheap motel league all of a sudden isn't interested. once they find out that Miami has a little tiny arena maybe they won't want them either.

But really, could they be bigger pr!cks??

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

So I would imagine that the unwritten rule about not recruiting other league members verbal commits is out the window now. Not that it will matter, none of the leftovers would be able to pull a recruit from one of the "haves" even before they started their dick measuring contest with the B1G Mistake.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

Well not a surprise, but the super guys have not done their homework well believe me.

If WMU stays out of it, and Notre Dame goes east like is at least a 50-50 chance, things might not be quite so super. Plus they are projecting things that are not going to happen. Lets just be cool and we should be ok if we play our cards right.

Without Notre Dame, they might as well call it the Cowboys (DU) & Indians (UND) Hockey League.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

The only downside to the Super8 Conference remaining a Motel6 conference is they could easily schedule an interlocking schedule with the B1GMistake conference. 20 conference games (4 each opponent) and 12 non-con games against the other conference (Motel6/B1G). That leaves just one open weekend for everyone to schedule a non-conference game, which looks fantastic on paper to those schools because now none of the B1G schools need to travel that weekend. There will be a backup of teams wanting to go to Ann Arbor, East Lansing, wherever, to play against the B1G schools.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

I should have stayed in bed this morning. This is all ridiculous, it makes little to no sense. And honestly I think once things settle down and everybody stops panicking about trying to compete with the new B1G conference this new "super conference" isn't going to happen.

The problem is, it has already happened.

I'll believe it when all of the contract are signed. College football just went through the same thing. Everybody got all in a fuss because they thought the big ten was going to expand to a 16 team league so every other day there was a rumor that teams were moving and when all the dust settled I think like 4 teams actually changed conferences. So I'll decide not to freak out until all of the ink drys.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

well..... I'm glad we signed a solid coach before this went down. Strong leadership will be critical over the next few years, as will fan support of susceptible programs. "Crisis" doesn't begin to describe it. Best case, Alaska loses college hockey. Worst case, Tech, NMU, St, Clooud, etc. do as well.
Getting wins, getting fans, getting recruits over the next couple, three years just became a matter of life or death of the program. The moronic jackwads from UND, DU, et al are going to be playing in some very unfriendly arenas this winter.
......and DU will be here Halloween weekend. hmmm

Which is why I sincerely hope that Bruce McLeod is out of a job by the end of next week.

Actually, I don't see the Alaskas losing hockey just yet as long as they keep paying for flights. Bowling Green has been on shaky financial ground for years, they're probably the first to fold. After that, it's anyone's guess as to the financial situations of the remaining CCHA schools, but given Michigan's economic climate I'm guessing they're keeping track of every last dime in their athletic budgets, just as we wouldn't have been able to afford Pearson without a fundraising campaign and some very generous donors.

The moronic jackwads from UND, DU, et al are going to be playing in some very unfriendly arenas this winter.

That will be an understatement. Perhaps not so much in Houghton or Mankato, but St. Cloud and Bemidji? Bet on it...

They might want to hire armed guards when they go to St. Cloud. There could be Vancouver style riots.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

Right now to me it looks like it will be BSU, MSUM, SCSU, MTU, NMU, LSSU, UA_, UAA and I would think they would find a way to just have teams play both their series in Alaska back to back so a week spent in Alaska. Depending on the stability of LSSU, maybe they pick WMU or FSU. I really don't know who is in the best shape of the michigan schools after NMU and MTU. BGSU, FSU, WMU could link up with UAH, Niagara and Mercyhurst to try and to do a CHA. I do think the leftover WCHA could be the ECAC of the west, which isn't horrible.
