I just saw a commercial asking for money for Minot flood relief. Ha, **** that. I home every person in that state loses their house to a flood or tornado or fire. At this point I would donate money to someone starting a fund to destroy levees.

You just need to pay off the Russians - I'm sure they still have some missiles targeted at Grand Forks and Colorado Springs.

Sounds good to me. I also hope they strip the Sioux name from those racist pieces of ****. And force them to remove every logo in the arena. Ban them from the NCAA tournament for defying the NCAA mandates.

Put on your hard hats, keyboard courage is coming in hot! Even if everyone in ND lost their home we still wouldn't have as much homeless gutter trash as north Minneapolis.

.
You think I give a flying **** about north Minneapolis? They're just as worthless as North Dakota and Denver

So, I've started to take action by calling the athletic directors and coaches involved in this shuffle. I just got off the phone with CC's athletic director.

This is good to hear Flashy, and thanks for posting the emails. I've sent emails. Although they will do little, at least your voice is being heard.

That and after its all official and we're definitely screwed, we can sign them all up for massive amounts of junk mail and porn.

Shame too, because I do feel that Mel will be the one to turn your program around.

I've been meaning to say...Mel might be kicking himself. Yeah, he's an alum, but does he leave U of M for Tech if he knows that we'll be playing in the AHA West in a few years?

What did the AD have to say?

Not too much, basically my schtick is to our history in relation to college hockey and their team. Then ask them to consider that in their decisions as college hockey moves forward. I don't bring up the potential conference, because that lock down the conversation.

I am planning on sending emails, but I'm too ****ed to do it tonight. No way could I write a civil email to one of those ******** tonight hopefully I am calmer tomorrow.

This. I've drafted some emails, but they're not going out until I can proofread in a slightly more rational state of mind tomorrow afternoon.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

Bigblue: the long answer to my tweet (which I kept deleting and re-writing) is that NMU doesn't need MTU to survive, yet it needs schools like MTU and LSSU to be competitive and do well. NMU is a 16 to 20 place team that does well for developing players for professional hockey. It competes against the SCSU's, tUMD's, Miami's and Notre Dames for recruits... It has a name throughout the sport, thanks to the consistency Walt has had.

What NMU needs is for MTU and LSSU to do better. If those programs get close to NMU, it makes NMU push to stay ahead and grows the interest in the sport across the UP. There aren't many people, but .500 and better hockey by all three could increase attendance and awareness of the programs.

NMU doesn't need MTU. College hockey needs MTU.

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

I can't imagine what you guys are going through. Yes, I cheer for Tech when MN is not hurt by the result. I've been to Houghton for hockey at least once per calendar year since 2007. I'm tremendously *ed off and sad that Tech is probably going to die a slow death. However, neither my sorrow nor anger can even come CLOSE to what all of you are feeling.

No, you haven't been successful in a long, long time. You've been the butts of many jokes. You've hit rock bottom at times. Still, you cheer for your team. You swear them off on Saturday night, only to tune in and cheer that next Friday. And soon, you probably won't even have that opportunity. I can't even fathom the impact on your fanbase, not only because MTU has been kicked to the curb, but also on your fandom of college hockey.

I feel we very well may lose a good chunk of hardcore fans, fans that travel to AK/CO/NE/wherever to cheer for their team. Whether it be 3 people or a busful, wherever Tech plays, you wouldn't be surprised to hear some cowbells and see black and gold. I'll be honest, there's no other "stray dog" school I could cheer for on a regular basis like I do for Tech. I'm sure there are others in the same boat. Why? History, the fans, the stubborness of "we will be relevant again!" attitude.

Please, please, please, let me be wrong. Let college hockey as we know it somehow survive, and for the love of God expand, with these new developments. Unfortunately, I think we'll be carving out tombstones for many a school. MTU is the one I'll miss the most, though.

And in proper form for this post:

TECH ONCE TECH TWICE
HOLY *ING JESUS CHRIST
GOD DAMN SONUVABITCH
GO TECH GO!

Re: MICHIGAN TECH OFFSEASON THREAD II: The Winning has started

I don't think this will kill Tech hockey. not at all. we will get along - perhaps with a better winning record. but this will impact some of the schools on the cusp - Bowling Green, UAH - and losing schools is bad for college hockey.

I wonder how our new coach feels about all this?

if ... if ... if all this had been known in March I wonder if Tech would have pulled the trigger on Jamie?
