Re: Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!

Tech fans are starting to sound like Michigan fans. Always whining about something. Enjoy the ride people. This won't happen every year.

you mistake us. its been 22 years since we've had home ice for the playoffs. we are savoring every minute.

the point is Hastings did what he was expected to do, tMel Pearson and his team have done something extraordinary.

They both have done something extraordinary...I don't think anyone had MSU #2 in the country going in, yes they were picked to win the WCHA but were they really expected to be this good? Like I've said before, there are more coaches deserving of COY than there isn't...you could make a case for Hastings, Pearson, Bergeron, Ferguson, Serratore, and even Corbett.

This. I think it was the least predictable of all the WCHA awards this season, just for this reason.

Re: Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!

Are there any particular rules with respect to how many players Mel can bring with him to the Final five? The NCAA tourney? Are tourney games considered neutral ice games?

I would imagine so, what are the rules for neutral ice vs road? I know road is 2 non-dressed players beyond the 18 skaters/2 goalies. Home is everyone obviously...

Not trying to steal the thread, but for those with ties to the area...

Congratulations to the Houghton Gremlins hockey team on advancing to tomorrow's state championship! Can't ask for a better hockey playoff atmosphere in Houghton this weekend!

As I'm sure you know the HS hockey tournament is downstate (along with a few hundred team followers and a few thousand MTU spring breakers), but I was at the SDC today and it was jammed with women's basketball teams starting the regional tournament. The place will be a zoo this weekend even if the hockey games aren't sold out.

I think tonight's game is a sellout

I just looked over to the ticket site, there are about a hundred seats left for tonight and they haven't opened up standing room yet. There are more seats sold for Saturday, and SRO tickets available.

Carmine hasn't been very good lately. I think that he's hurt but playing through it like Dahlström is at Northern.

GFM

Dahlström isn't exactly playing through it. They shut him down for the season more than a month ago. Saw him in the stands in Marquette last weekend.

oh, my friend said SRO were not available so I thought that meant sellout...I would have thought SRO would be available before there are "about a hundred seats left"

EDIT: maybe they stop SRO sales on day of if they are close to sellout? idk

No, it's been this way all year: They don't make the SRO tix available until you can no longer get a group in the seats together. There are still several rows open on the student side for today's game before they will open up standing room tix.

so really the only reason SRO isn't available is because these games don't fall under the free student tickets?

I think they are giving students tickets but there's not many students around to take them, this was on Twitter

MTU athletics is purchasing tix for MTU students. Students can get their tickets at @MTU_ticketing. Must have valid ID at entrance. #mtuhky
The "student sections" seats are also available to the public.
It was also brought to my attention that a lot of youth hockey tournaments are out of town this weekend (besides HS) so the ticket sales are really pretty impressive, everyone left in Houghton will be there. I will be there with 3 jr. geezers.

If you are in on the jersey order and have not paid, provided me with your name, number, size and preference for a C/A on the jersey please let me know ASAP. Athletics wants this jersey order out the door now. We are a go for both gold and cream jerseys.

I'll have to get you HN's size. I can send a check along with him to the regional, if that works for you.
