Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!

Re: Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!

I know Dirk pointed it out too, but also think how tiring that is for the refs and linesmen, they're out there skating the whole time too and while they're relatively young they are definitely older and not as well conditioned as the players.

Well its their fault. They shouldn't have blown the whistle early.

Anyone else have trouble with the video feed? It only took an hour to play the first period. Long play time was 2:30 minutes. When I finally gave up and went to Dirk it was the middle of the second period. Not going to renew next year.

Re: Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!

One last statistical breakdown from last night's epic.

173-number of shots attempted by Michigan Tech
48-shots that missed the net
47-shots blocked by the UAH defense
1-shot that hit the crossbar
76-saves by Guerrero
1-goal by Tyler Heinonen

The stat crew was probably running on fumes too.

Mel was right on with his comments on Heinonen. It's not a fluke that he has 12 goals even though at least half the team can out-skate him. The other 12 times the puck was picked up in similar position, it went wide, high, or into a goalie pad. The kid just knows how to score.
Also: killing the 5-on-3 was the play of the game.
47 blocked shots! What's the record on that? I know there are some sore ankles today, I saw one D-man get it off both ankles from one shot like a pinball.

I was actually quite pleased with the stream last night. Mine didn't drop a single time and stayed as a clean HD full screen signal the whole 6 periods. That was even more important when pasty.net and TuneIn crashed in overtime with all the people trying to access their streams.

For reference, I use my Samsung Blu-Ray player to stream directly to my TV. it has worked well overall all season long.

Trouble with TuneIn? I listened the whole game on TuneIn, and never had a single problem.

I have a feeling it was a problem for those trying to listen later in the game. We had it on here and also had no problems.

I listened at pasty.net, stopped it between periods and couldn't get back on. Tried tunein and couldn't get on there either.

It seemed for me whenever pasty.net was down, tunein was also down.

This. I tuned in for the 3OT, and it took a couple tries.

TuneIn gets their feed from pasty.net, so that would make sense.

Not trying to steal the thread, but for those with ties to the area...

Congratulations to the Houghton Gremlins hockey team on advancing to tomorrow's state championship! Can't ask for a better hockey playoff atmosphere in Houghton this weekend!

Houghton/Cranbrook title game is starting now on KBear 102.

Re: Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!

I still haven't recovered. 6 periods of shutout hockey is brutal. 6 periods after a 12 hour drive is inhumane.

5 more hours til round 2...

Re: Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!

My wife wasn't exactly thrilled with an earbud in my ear during dinner while they played the 2nd and 3rd OT...
