Re: Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!

...one of the people JohnsonsJerseys spoke to in Denver wants to get multiple jerseys...
I was wondering if you got any traction from that event. There must have been some photos of the event bounced around the university because even Pearson mentioned there was a good crowd at the Denver event.

I also had another contact through Facebook from someone that was looking for a throwback jersey. He was asking about a game worn, but I passed along your contact info / pricing anyway.

I'll post the regional map that I've put together again, since we all should have regionals on the mind again. Like I mentioned before, if anyone has inside information about any of these sites, just let me know, and I will add it.

Here is the old version of google maps, I think it is a bit easier to use:

For those of you who don't remember what home playoffs look like at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena, we present this video from 1993 as proof that it has happened before.

Thank-you as always for posting these clips - awesome!
Even a bit of Kyle "I punched the coach" Furgeson in that one and a really young Pat Mikesch.

Re: Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!

I was going to post this in the WCHA thread but I figured 8 of the 10 teams wouldn't care, so here it is...SBNCH completed their top 100 NHL prospects and there were 5 players from the WCHA made the list:
38 Teddy Blueger
45 Blake Pietila
58 CJ Franklin
76 Jamie Phillips
80 Dylan Margonari

It is interesting to me that these 5 are the only players SBNCH considered top 100 in College Hockey, I realize that it wasn't a list of the top 100 NCAA players, but the top prospects but that seems a little light on WCHA players to me. Of note, I think Alaska's Parayko was originally on the list at 100 but they overlooked someone and bumped him off the list.

I would bet that in the long run, Parayko will be better than more than 50% of the other D-men on that list.

Oh, I agree, and have feeling they went a little to heavy on where they were drafted...the highest Free Agents were ranked 31 and 40...I get that its just a list but I feel like a lot of guys got overlooked for distant potential.

Parayko is listed. He's number 16. He just signed with the Blues yesterday.

There's public transportation to Manchester? For Providence you would take the Silver Line bus from the terminals to South Station to take the Commuter Rail to Providence but there isn't a similar option to get to Manchester. Though.....there may be a coach bus.

Providence's airport is about 20 minutes away in Warwick. Assuming you can take a cab from there.

Re: Michigan Tech, best season in 30 years, part two!

I just booked our rooms in Fargo, Providence and Manchester at the same set of hotels as shirtless. South Bend we don't need hotels as my uncle is Michigan City and we'll be staying there.

My google search showed that there was a coach bus of some kind, but it didn't look like it had a convenient schedule. I'm not sure what Shirtless had in mind for public transportation to Manchester. We could take the trains as far as Lowell, and then find a way to rent a car from an Enterprise in New Hampshire, since the idea was to avoid the high rental car taxes. :p

Based on hotel/arena locations, Providence would be nice. Right next door. With plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. As far as being able to easily get there...leaves much to be desired.

For those who are just now looking into this, the hotels I have booked at each site for Shirtless and I are:

Fargo: Hampton Inn, just north of Sheels Arena
Providence: Hilton, right next to the arena
Manchester: Comfort Inn, across the river, a few miles away
South Bend: Holiday Inn Express, just north of the Notre Dame campus

To take the train to Lowell you need to get to North Station. To do that, you would either need to take a taxi or the MBTA - Blue line to State St, change to the Orange line to North Station. Doable but time consuming. And is the amount you save in taxes seriously worth the time and aggravation to Lowell and then figure out how to get a rental car from New Hampshire?

Yeah, i'll just rent a car at the airport. I'm not wasting my time to save on a bit of fees. :D

I haven't looked into it much, but the first quote I got was that taxes and fees were like 50% of the total cost of the rental car, so it might be worth it.

edit: doing another quote, the taxes aren't that much. I wonder whats going on with my quotes, Enterprise! :p

edit2: Renting a car from Enterprise at Boston Logan (same dates, same class) came up as $123 for 2 days. Renting at Manchester's airport came up with $61. So, is it worth $60 to you or not?

How would you get to the Manchester airport from the Lowell commuter rail? It's, like, an hour away.
