Re: Michigan Tech 2017-18 The Joe Shawhan Era Continues - Getting Better Everyday

I have read the comments and understand fandom. But there are two sides to every story and there will be little each side will agree on and nothing I would say would change the mind of anyone. But you all have passion because you care. With that said, it was a great trip. Met some great folks. Chatted with Andre who helps run the rink and Gary up in suites. Did you know Gary's story? If not, you need to go meet the guy. Cool history of playing hockey, including his time at BG. Awesome stories and both awesome folks. Also ran into your men's hoops coach during a shoot around the day before the Lake game and he couldn't have been more friendly. Two tough losses last week, but I will now be following and cheering them on. Enjoyed the trip and the pasty was delicious. Would love to come back someday. Good luck against NMU and the playoffs.
I think Tech is willing to take on it's share of responsibility, but the film is the film. I like the ASU fans but the program, not so much.

A video on YouTube just went up from the reverse angle. Very interesting how Powers has the stones to call out Shawhan after watching this a few times. The guy is a punk plain and simple. No surprise the league and officials aren't recommending punishment.

The league isn’t going to issue any penalties that would impact the Tech/NMU series. Nor should it. That’s hockey. It’s done and over with.

Make up your mind. Should we be embarrassed or should we beg for more?
I'm not saying the coach wants the fights. He wants guys that get under your skin, play on the edge. In my opinion he'd rather a team full of McLains rather than what he currently has.

I'm sure he is embarrassed and truly sorry about his actions on Saturday.

I personally like the team the way it is. Skillful and classy.

You can have skill players with a little bit of grit. The key is finding a way to make sure you don't lose the classy.

I like this team.

Tech needs a big brawler. Gord Salt, 6'5" 200 lbs, would have been in the middle of that mellay brawling and parting the mob like Moses parted the Red Sea. He loved to fight...Hanson style...:p

Its a bold strategy to roster a fighting specialist in a level of hockey that doesn't allow fighting. Bold strategy indeed, Cotton.

I'd say the B&B, they seem to embrace showing the hockey games. When I was up a few weeks ago, they were showing a game @Ferris, and there were a decent amount of people there watching.

I forgot about the B&B upping their game in the last couple years. First time I was ever there it was darn near like that scene in Animal House where the college kids walked into the black's bar.

For those who don't know, tourists were looked at funny when they walked in there; per my experiences anyway.

That should have no bearing on anything.

And then he would be kicked out for at least Friday’s game at NMU. What good would that do for a team that needs wins to get home ice in the playoff vs Bemidji? Gordie was too good a player to be missing in a critical game.

uhm, I know math is hard but check the standing MTU @ BSU is already a lock.

Salt was hardly a brawling specialist. Maxed out with 49 PIM his junior year, but had 59 points. Had exactly 1 fight in 24 games as a pro. Good, physical power forward that was smart enough to know when not to go at it.

So you’d want to play a critical series without your leading scorer? Boehm, Hay & Merkosky were good players, but Salt was their best. Don’t give up on the Huskies because they’ve lost 3 of their last 4 at Bemidji. Gotta have a Tech-NMU Championship game!

You are really bring your stupid "A" game today...being a lock for 5th place and going to Bemidji has nothing to do with my hope for MTU going on a run in the WCHA. Next time you open your mouth think about what you're going to say before you try and make the rest of us waste time reading your crap.

There was only one day of the year that the local yokels would let us into that joint without giving us the hairy eyeball, and it was the annual "Senior" Bar Crawl night.

You’re right. My error. My apologies.

Last time we were there, it was almost a totally different bar as far as attitude. I like the place, and glad they changed.
