Michigan Tech 2014-2015

Re: Michigan Tech 2014-2015

Shirtless, as I said I'm not sure what jerseys are being sold... maybe Johnson Jersey will weigh in???
I haven't been checking in as often recently due to the fact that we packed up two apartments in CO and MN and finally moved into our new home in CO a couple weekends ago. Last weekend six Uhual containers showed up with our stuff from WI. So pretty much every day is work 8 hours and then come home and work some more unstacking / unpacking boxes... And just for good measure, my company moved me to a new office up one floor. When you're a small company you get to move yourself... more boxes and stairs... Yaaaaaay.

Anyway, the whole thing with jerseys and sales is one of the biggest grey areas in college sports and I think hockey really flies under the radar. D-I football and bouncyball are always under the microscope of the NCAA. I believe the spirit of the rule is to prevent a school like BU from stocking their school store with Jack Eichel jerseys, game worn or otherwise. That would be truly generating a profit off the players name. In my opinion, even stocking the store with jerseys with #9 specificity is pushing the grey area as you know why the school chose that number.

As for selling game worn jerseys, it is tough for teams to sell the common jerseys at anything close to a profit. Most teams are selling them at a loss just to get some money back into the program's cookie jar. Yes, there are a few like North Dakota, BC, etc who seem they can ask whatever they want for a jersey and will get it but they are the exception, rather than the rule. UND is very strict about when they sell jerseys. They ALWAYS have the names on the back, BUT they don't sell them until after the player leaves the program. OSU usually sells every jersey after every season. Returning players have the names stripped off the backs, but if you buy a senior's jersey the name is still in place. Then you have other programs who just sell everything with the names still attached. I'm sure they are under the assumption that it doesn't matter if the name is attached because they are taking a loss selling the jerseys so there is no profit and thus not a violation.

I would say I have a good feel on how about 30 of the NCAA teams deal with their jerseys and they are pretty consistent year to year. The others change frequently and you can't really predict how or when you might even be able to get a jersey from the team in any manner. A good example is AIC. How many people even know they have a D-I team. Want to get a jersey from the team... good luck. I spent years writing and calling before I finally got one. By the end I felt like I was Tim Robbins trying to build a prison library, but I never did get to the point of writing two letters per week.

And as far as classic music goes, well here is a chart topper for you...

Michigan Tech adds another forward, Jake Lucchini who plays for Trail in the BCHL. Currently on the leader board for the league with 41 pts in 33 games.

Re: Michigan Tech 2014-2015

Any chance Blacklock and E. Anderson are available for the GLI or more likely see their first ice at Wisconsin.

With Vallis looking very good against UMD, Baltus playing well when in, it seems impossible to keep everyone happy.

Coach Mel said a lot of players would see the ice at the GLI, but will have to wait and see which players match up better against first Michigan and then the second opponent.

There is a number of real good and new restaurants in Detroit now. Try Green Dot Stables near the old Tiger stadium site, slows BBQ, or if you have never been, Lafayette or American coney island, both across from the Westin Book Cadillac hotel. I do not recommend hockey town cafe, or riding the people mover.

If for some reason your provider does not carry FSD+ or Fox College Atlantic, you can use BTN2Go to stream all 4 games from the GLI.

Thanks for the info. Leaving Saturday morning and staying that night in Auburn Hills. Any suggestions on where to stay game night that is closer to JLA that is not too expensive? Car parking for game time? Why not riding people mover? I haven't been to the D in many years. I will have no clue where I am going down there

Ever since the frozen 4 was at Ford field, we have enjoyed several pre games at The Detroit Beer Company.
Great food and craft style beer.

Parking wise, you can park at the JLA garage, or take a shuttle from say, Greektown casino or some other place, ( though I do not know, on a non wings game night, if the shuttles will be operating) you could go to Greektown for dinner, and then catch either a cab or a shuttle over and back. Or another one is eat in Berkley,( in the suburbs) at Vinsetta Garage, and then drive down.
Like I say lot's of good places and hard to go wrong.

the people mover is fine getting there, but leaving is a 1 hour wait to get on, at least after the Wings play.
Hotels are not cheap anywhere. There is a HI express downtown though, but I have never been in it and have no idea what the rooms are like.

I went to a Wings' game back in November on the people mover, and the only reason I had to wait more than 20 minutes to get back on was because my friend realized he didn't have the token to board until he was at the turnstile. We left right as everyone else did during a "sold out" crowd (it was announced as a sell out, but it wasn't over 85% full). Plus, JLA probably won't fill up like it does for a Wings' game. I'd recommend parking around Comerica and walking to a people mover station. The Lions are in Green Bay and the Tigers are obviously off, so parking should be relatively good.

In alumni news, just before Christmas John Scott earned a four game vacation without pay for knocking out a Ducks player cold with a single backhand blow. Not even a 2-minute penalty given for the play on the ice, but it looks ugly so the NHL suspends him again. Jackman tried to drive Scott into the goal cage after the play was over with a cross check to the lower back and Scott ***** slapped him. Jackman went down like a ton of bricks. Pretty much a BS move by the league offices to appease all the fans that don't want to see physical contact in the NHL...

I really wonder what the NFL and NHL will look like 10 years from now... clearly physical contact is just too much for the American public to deal with anymore.

Re: Michigan Tech 2014-2015

Isn't the WCHA.TV package covering the Tech games?
Ryan J

I don't think the WCHA.tv package will include these games, since they are available on FSN/BTN streaming. Fox doesn't "sublet" those.

Even though Tech is the host school, it's Olympia Entertainment who holds all the media rights.

An epic dive. You can see Jackhole...err, Jackman pause before he crumples like a house of cards. That would earn a yellow card for simulation.
