What did I say earlier this week? Bye weeks suck when your team is healthy. We played like we had bus legs last night.

tonight was a thriller!! big win going into Christmas break. huskyfans can use the time to get EKGs done and refills on heart meds.

Good job to earn the split after almost gagging it away.

Defense, powerplay, and "killer instinct" still have a lot of room for improvement.

Good W, and I thought it was cool Messina got to dress as the third goalie


Mel's postgame interview:
GWG couldn't happen to a better guy, been through a lot losing his grandfather, good for him
We didn't have our best period in 3rd, but great to get the win
We were ready to play, good start
We did an excellent job on PK tonight, critical
We got big goals and big times, Hanna answered UMD goal
We didn't look very good early on 5x3 but their goalie made some good saves
UMD has been a very good 3rd period team, we knew that and they pressed us hard
That's as good of a team as we'll see all year
Vallis did some nice things, good scoring chances
Auk you can see some of his talent, good job defensively
Neville, he was itching to play last night, we got him 1 more practice
Winning after some changes increases competition
Neville's 1st G of the season, he does so many key things, PK, faceoffs etc
Faceoffs good, Pietila 11 wins 5 losses, also saw flashes from Blake, did a lot of good things
Steman 8 wins 0 losses on faceoffs, he'll only continue to get better
Over 3200 again, shoutout to the fans, it really helps, glad to send them home with a W
practices are optional from here til day after Xmas, want guys to stay in shape
Good W, didn't like some things tonight, we'll learn from it, that's as good of team as any, that team will be in the NCAA, they're just too good

Mel sure had a hard time hiding his smile during the post-game show with Dirk!

Huge win before heading to win their 2nd GLI in 3 years!!!!!! GO HUSKIES!!

For the first time in years, Tech is clearly the favorite to win their own holiday tournament, at least as far as the numbers are concerned. The only things standing in their way are themselves, and perhaps a POed Wolverines squad.

What I liked was how highly paced the game was overall. Much faster than in past games and at a level not seen in quite a while.

Duluth is the real deal if you ask me. I thought we were spectators during the 5x3 and never got back to the play that had gotten us to that point the rest of the game. It was like a slow motion pp.

I liked how Auk played but he took too many chances if you ask me. I'm sure he will get better with time.
The PK was very good and needed to be. Taking all those penalties, especially in the offensive zone hurt.

Michigan will be really PO'ed coming in and both MSU and Ferris are pretty good teams.

That was a must win last night, for PWR reasons. Getting swept by UMD could have killed us later in the year.

Half those penalties were horse manure, you should know a few things about that. Musso was awful and his partner wasn't any better.

Defense??? What u talkin' about? It's ranked 3rd in the NCAA only behind Vermont and Cornell. It helps a lot to have a great goaltender, but the team defense is fine and they block a ton of shots.

I think what he's trying to say is to play more on the other end of the ice. We spent a lot of time in our D-zone on the weekend, it exposed us at times. We can't just sit back and play D, we have to pressure the puck all over the ice. That is when we are most successful.

****ty. I've said it for years. Deer are useless, kill them all. Its why we try to kill as many as possible when we can.

Exactly. That first period on Friday was, perhaps, our worst period of the season thus far, and the 3rd period on Saturday wasn't much better. Friday, I can sort of understand (but not excuse) because we had an ill-timed bye weekend prior. However, up 3-1 at home with 20 to play, you should be looking to put a team away with a couple more goals, and we proceeded to let UMD right back into the game instead. We got very lucky catching UMD's defense relaxing and thinking about OT right before the buzzer.

We couldn't even take the scrawny beast with us as we had nothing to tie it down with. F-ing rat...

Car's drivable, but will need some work. We're on our way home now.

While Tech should really roll through the next 2 series (GLI and Wisconsin), I'm very nervous about the Michigan game, just because I think it will be tough to beat them 3 times. Luckily, they'll be short handed, and they're not very talented. Also hoping to get the matchup against MSU, but that is a bit of a double-edged sword, since it would be nice if FSU beat them. Not too worried about Wisconsin, they're a dumpster fire right now.

I already stated the ideal result at the GLI for the WCHA is
MTU beat Michigan
MSU tie FSU but advance on shootout
MTU beat MSU
FSU beat Michigan

WCHA goes 3-0-1 in the tournament.
