Re: Michigan Tech '11-'12 Season Thread I: Hope Springs Eternal

Ticket "sales" were propped up a bit last weekend by give aways to students visiting for the university open house. That being said, I just like seeing full seats regardless. With the new ticket prices, they can afford to give away a few more seats. :)

Does anyone know if Tromp, the goalie from Hibbing, is still with the team or what plans they have for him?
I'm under the same impression as Flashy, but it sounds like he plans to play with PL or some other local team to keep fresh and is quite likely the guy to replace Cramer next season.

They've given away tickets for tours for quite some time. When I first came to campus I got tickets to see Tech play Wisconsin.

Cheap ******** didn't give me free hockey tickets when I did a tour! UND did, at the Ralph, but yet I still went to Tech...

What I'd like to see this weekend is an incremental improvement. Faster puck movement, better defense with fewer breakdowns, better goaltending and 60 minutes of effort. I don't think we will have a mid season team so early but it would be nice to continue to implement the system and improve every day.
Go huskies!

I figure that this is the goal for now, along with putting forth a winning effort in every game, even when the score doesn't turn out our way.

I'd like to see that too, but the streaming is still crap. :(

But really, don't you have better things to do on Friday and Saturday night than sit in front of your computer and watch a Tech hockey game?

I hook the computer up the TV and watch with my brother as we eat dinner and have a beer. Games are on at 6. Works well and there is plenty time to do things after. Watching Tech hockey has been my Friday/Saturday routine for 20 years. Not watching the games is weird and one of the things I missed most after leaving. So no... I don't have better things to do. I want to watch Tech hockey. ;)

I feel bad for you man. That picture's got to be terrible on a TV screen. You know, I'm sure they'd accept targeted donations for upgraded equipment. Although getting a difference-making amount of bandwidth wired in might be a massive investment, I don't know.

Brandon, you should really try to cut Stephen's pay:
"The Huskies couldn't care less what pollsters think." Couldn't. Could not care less. Couldn't. They care not at all about the polls. Ding nabit.
Yes, I know it's a clich. But still.

It's got to be bandwidth. They use the same feed in the blue line room and its not crap. You can barely make out numbers of the players.... Sad thing is I've used most of the other schools feeds to watch other games, none are as bad as Tech. And we're a Tech school... :(.

As far as targeted donations go... if they have a plan to upgrade and fix them, I'd be more then willing to throw some money towards it. But this summer's "upgrade" has a bit worried there.

Isn't that the editor's fault? ;) And it has now been edited. :D

Re: Michigan Tech '11-'12 Season Thread I: Hope Springs Eternal

The feed is still a huge improvement over where it was when I last had it two years ago, so that's why I haven't been complaining much.

true, it is more than one camera now... and they show replays. but the quality of the main game camera is not that much better.

Re: Michigan Tech '11-'12 Season Thread I: Hope Springs Eternal

I also watch some games on the streaming site. It is pretty bad.....very hard to tell where the puck is. HuskiesLive sets its streaming resolution over the internet low for some reason. They are not the only school using the XOS/Neulion product suite for hockey. Several other schools, including WMU use it and appear to stream to their paying customers at higher resolution. The whole point of the XOS technology is that it encodes very efficiently to stream higher resolution with low bandwith. I don't think it would cost more to upgrade the chunky video, at least not on the vendor side. Nick Laurila would probably be the person to contact about it, as he set it up.
