NHL CSS rankings (besides often falling behind other services) mean absolutely nothing in terms of current ability to be a college player. NHL draft positions are based solely on potential and readiness to play elite professional levels of hockey. And the worst part is that you already knew this and still tried to use it to defend the babbling words of a fellow Warrior fan.

joe cannata was one of the best frosh goalies..past mack teams were less talented, could not skate as well..as result did take alot penalites especially under serino..but the kids played hard, not dirty..college is really a clean game, so much equipment tough to get hurt... major junior, canadien college much dirtier..fact is canata was an unknown almost had one offer after bc high.. then went as last invite for the 18 usd team.. beat out 10 goalies, was third on depth chart, eventually became starter on that team..the kid was the best frosh goalie in hockey east, ask the coahes, scouts..kid from bu also very good...while playing for the u team 18 canata had interest from 12 other schools, he could have gone anywhere, but stayed loyal to dennehy who offered him first... as far as non competiteness they lost 12 one goal games last year, gave teams in hockey east fits...they will be better this year even with the loss of ricci.... but what do i know about hockey joe? i ahve forgotten more about the game, than you ever know..

That is correct. There are 8 Division 1 Hockey Catholic schools.

3 Jesuit: BC, Holy Cross, Canisius
1 Dominican: PC
1 Augustinian: Merrimack
1 Vincentian: Niagara UND plays them too 1/2/10
1 founded by the Sisters of Mercy: Mercyhurst
1 Independent founded by a Father from the Congregation of Holy Cross: Notre Dame a possible UND opponent on 1/3/10

So 3 or 4 times this season the Sioux can be converted to Catholicism and perhaps more if they encounter one of them in the NCAA's.

The more likely outcome is that the Catholics get converted into North Dakotanism.

Okay, so I exaggerated a bit.

They can be very good barometers, but using them to say one player is better than another at this level is often untrue. There are plenty of players (as BC fans like you know) who have tremendous value as collegiate athletes but won't be able to compete in the pros. This occurs more rarely with goalies than it does with undersized forwards, but Jeff Lerg was a hell of a college hockey goalie for instance, and he won't be going anywhere. Both Millan and Cannata play a pro style, but neither has matured enough to be ready for the pros.

merrimack has more talnet now than half of the teams in div. one...there are 58 d-1 teams...because we play in hockey east we lose alot of tough games but play most teams pretty close nite in nite out...last few years with lees talent than now on the roster we are like 11-4 out conference...we are better and would flat out win the cha, huntsville,bemidji, etc...atlantic hockey we would win that as well thats 10 more teams..ccha we have more talent thanw.mich,n mich.,lake,neb omah..ecac we would be in the middle of the pack, and are better than brown, rpi,union, st law.dartmouth..hockey east we are beter the pc, have same talent as umass, maine....just beacuse we finish last in hockey east doesnt mean the team is not competitive...dennehy has turned things around...keep your head up boys here we go

If you have so much talent than can you explain why you haven't made the Hockey East playoffs since 2004? You average 1 or 2 series wins against any team. And ya, you'd really win Atlantic Hockey, you'd just absolutely tame Air Force and Lamoureux's scoring ability, and you'd def be a tournament team if you were in another conference. I can tell you've only followed Merrimack hockey maybe a few years, so quit your whining and go back to D-III.

Because Chris Serino left the program a shambles and it takes 7-8 years to rebuild a program from scratch. BTW who do you think recruited the talent that got UMass to the hockey east finals? Didn't Merrimack beat UMass twice last season? The only reason UMass won the third game was because Dennehy sat Cannata to give Braithwaite some work because the team was already out of the playoffs.

You can have the best goaltender in the NCAA, but it won't mean a thing if your defense can't keep up with our forwards...ask Alex Kangas.

U MASS FAN, serino was a completet joke, ask any player that was under his regime..total fraud, set the program back 5-6 years..he acted as part time athletic director, never saw kids play, undernined his long time assistant coach, was was a clown... never played seruios hockey, came from saugus high, a complete joke, then new hampton, then unh asstantant... a nice high school coach where he can yell screan intimidate kids..cant evaluate talent, lazy, clueless about systems,..how the guy got the job is a complete joke..killed the program.the kids 5 years ago voted to walk away unless he resigned... malden cathlolic , that entire conference is a farse...nice guy that should run for saugus mayor...santagatti ex fraud pres, that was in cahouts with serino also ****caned..,he undermined the hockey program, almost likked it..

His constant yelling and screaming style works at that level. Players don't respond to that anymore at the college level. Listen to some of Jack Parker's interviews from the F4 last year.

first , we have rebuilt from a horible siruation 5 years ago..serino killed our program..undermined his asst, coaches, blamed them for failure...guy was over his head from the get go, alumns, ex players all new it!!he was in cahouts with his paisan buddy pressident, who was over paid and running his own rackets...airforce works hard, well coached, you think that kid would have those points in a real conference? atlantic hockey is not that good , but they send a wild card team to the ncaa, that dosnt play tight cause they have nothing to lose..they would struggle in a real league..i played at mack, won a ton of games, followed the team 20 years... we killed airforce, when i was there, would pummel them now.. some guy score 33 goals gainst teams with 10 schollies, in a **** league...yes the kid can play, love his style, love the academy, what they bring, etc... they are in hockey east, wcha etc.. that they miss palyoffs, that kid doent get 33 goals...

Dirty, Quiz hasn't been to Merrimack in quite some time, so her view on the pizza in the arena is dated and incorrect. Now, a few miles from the arena is Sal's Pizza and that is quite good. But in the arena, no.

Sal's Pizza is supplanting Dunkin' Donuts for omnipresence... the trip up to MC isn't complete without a stop to Fudds... which is irrelevant since the game is in GF.
