Re: Merrimack v. University of North Dakota

How do you score 1/2 a goal? Is that a Ralph rule?
In order to try to make these games somewhat competitive, UND has agreed to the stipulation that each goal they score will only be worth 1/2 of a goal on the scoreboard. So that means that MNS expects UND to put the goal in the net 15 times more than Merrimack. Which is probably pretty accurate.

Re: Merrimack v. University of North Dakota

I've seen half a goal scored on a cold night on an outdoor rink.

A slapshot hit the pipe and the puck broke in two: Half went out of the rink, half went into the net.

Well, yeah, when you Nodakers play with a frozen cow pie for a puck that's bound to happen. :p Down here in the big city we use pucks made from real Canadian or Slovakian rubber, they don't break in the cold. ;)

Pshh. Real Minnesotans would refuse to use Canadian or Slovakian rubber. Minnesota rubber only. Where's your Pride on Ice?

Happy might think that. The last pucks I've bought have all been made in Slovakia or Canada. They work fine for me.

Re: Merrimack v. University of North Dakota

Merrimack will be awestruck by the Ralph, since there isn't anything remotely close to it on the east coast. They won't stay within 5 tonight. Tomorrow night could be close but the Sioux still win.

I was thinking about that. That was a problem in their first game against BC last year. After they lost the game the coach said they were counting the championship banners. Although they did practice at the Ralph yesterday. I am not sure if Cannata played there when he was with the USNPDT.

Also the Warriors did not play an exhibition game last week. They were supposed to play a team from Europe but it fell through.

The Warriors will not have Stephane DeCosta this weekend. The NCAA has pushed the decision on his eligibility off until next week.

I prefer Czech Republic pucks, or real old school Czechoslovakian pucks...but that's just me. :)

If you have comcast it is on FCSA tonight and FCSC tomorrow night. You should check first to see if you get them. They cost about 10 bucks a month each to add them. I didn't have them so I called Comcast this morning and got a package that included them and my current movie channels and actually lowered my cable bill by 10 bucks a month.

Online there is an audio feed webcast with John Leahy & Mike Machnik at http://208.67.186.169/merrimack

Mike McMahon is doing a live blog during the game at http://Warriorrinkrat.com

Online video feed is available from North Dakota for 9.95 this a monthly pass so you can see both games. That is here.

The quality of the feed depends on the internet access at the rink. I would guess that they have good internet access at the Ralph.

UND'ers would say that if the Sioux were playing the Detroit Red Wings. ;) :D

With all the guys Dirty says are going to outscore the Mack, it's gonna be 50-0. Or is that 25-0 each night? :p

Re: Merrimack v. University of North Dakota

cannata played for us natl team in many, many D 1 barns, as well as intl events vs the russians etc

As The Ralph?

You just made my day :D

FWIW...I don't think the Sioux get overconfident tonight especially after only being tied with Manitoba after 2 on Sunday. I'm sure Hak will bring up how good Cannata is and how many one goal losses MC had last year...

Drop the puck!!!! :)

Don't count MC out of this. On paper, UND is a much stronger, faster team that should manhandle them. Last season at the IceBreaker UMass beat UND 3-2 and later on in the season went onto lose to Merrimack 2 out of 3 times!

Cannata has some great saves. Good to see Hextall get his goal after being robbed at least twice. A few defensive lapses by the Sioux but overall they really appeared to work hard for the win. Good win.
