yes sounds crazy but very close to being mostly true..we would win atlantic hockey, but thats because we play in hockey east, and attract better players..same with cha...we get alot of kids now from bchl, ajhl, oj, ej, ushl..most these kids are not elite talent, but very good players..dennehy has done greta job finding kids out west..it hansnt really showed record wise, because we are young, play tough teams every week...he had to completly overhaul the program, and with 12 one goal losses last year things are improving...no quastion this team is in bottom hockey east, but we would finish in the middle of the ecac, win atlantic, and cha... i could not say this 4 years ago, the talent was not there... last year dennehy landed cannata, best frosh goalie in the country, also this year get the 4th-5th leading scorer from the ushl, a french kid who is college ready...throw in the kids from out west who are already commited, things are looking up....our biggest selleing point is the league we play in..that enable dennehy to steal kids, telling them they will play alot right away..i have played -watched alot hockey, talk to alot of college coaches etc..because merimack is small, has low endowment, average rink, etc,they are the davies against the goaliths every week..there is talent there, the kids play hard, tough, and now can finally skate with anybody...
