I love comicbookguy calling mack head hunters. OK how would the wildcats react if a Mack player stuck his knee and and maybe ended the season of Paul Thompson???? they would react the same way. The warriors just saw their star get cheap shotted. unh would do the same. take the navy glasses off for a minute and think about it.

This seems to have become a four - person conversation. Let CBG and I be clear:
we didn't see the play. MackFan says he did, and has his opinion. The refs also saw it, and have their opinion. Hopefully
very soon league officials will also see it, and their opinion is most pertinent because they have the authority to suspend DeSimone. And so far to a person, all the UNH posters agree that
if in fact Phil D did 'leg check' Da Costa, then he
should be suspended. To go further, it would not shock me (it would garner my approval) if Coach Umile sat DeSimone for an extra game or two after the suspension. Despite Onion Man's third party opinions, that's not the sort of program UNH runs. That's not to say it hasn't, or won't, happen, but very rarely, and always punished.
As for Onion Man's other comments . . . first of all, I love how he can generalize ALL UNH posters into one catgeory. I also am terribly amused by his apparent knowledge of how wrong we are, even though he's not actually at the games. Yes, there have been times when referees have affected the outcome of the game (2-1 loss to BU, anybody)? That doesn't mean we all call for the refs head's every game. In fact, there have some games where UNH'ers have commented that "we got away with quite a bit tonight." It goes both ways, just like every where else. My concern with this game is that Keenan and Ritchie just didn't have control of the physical play -- for both teams.
Lastly -- you're absolutely right, if something similar happened to PThompson we'd be outraged -- but you have to give the league time to look at it. We're not simply crying "Innocent" through navy colored glasses; we're crying "I didn't see it", waiting for results -- and then in full support of discipline if applicable. You've stated what you saw, but you don't work for Hockey East, or I assume DeSimone would already be suspended.
And bottom line, either way . . . prayers for a speedy Da Costa recovery.
