i didnt know that... that will be a good game and interesting

interesting article in paper, very well done and deserved.

one small thing. Vesey had 95 points his senior year alone and to say no other mc player had 100 is misleading and not fair to that era.
also, Ricci had 90 and set out a season. Schmidtz had over 85 on D and these 2 had little if any supporting cast. If he stays 4, Collins might be next 100 guy. love to see a local kid snubbed by the big schools do well.
I noticed that too in Buckley's column...it was well written, but that one stat was a bit of a misnomer...Merrimack has had 47 players hit the century mark (D1 and D2). The Hockey East-only club just had Barton join back on 1/29 and he was the tenth member to do so, joining the likes of Fowler, Atkinson, Beck, Aquino, Laroche, Porter, Kesselring, Gravelle, and Stringer.

In terms of the folks you mention above, Vesey had 244 overall, which is beyond comprehension today...Ricci had 83 in 3 seasons, Schmidt had 90 as our best scoring option in the mid 2000s.

Taking a look at the career totals, if I had to pick the next 100 point player, it would be Jesse Todd, who has 65 points as of now and he is close to a 30 point season for '10-11.

nice..... lot of talent over there. I would bet with DY coaching in BCHL now it will create an even better pipeline.

Funny point. A Pal watched his team last week and so, Holy Crap, neevr saw a coach yell so much. Always came off as easy going....

just like next year when BC lose 4 F's, they also will fall. MC actually looks better prepared if a few departures after last nights showing

Told you so

Will there be a drop off? Sure. But it will be manageable. Same with York's club. These teams are based on a system. They can plug and play different personell and still be effective, not unlike the pats.

I am a believer...... I love underdogs and am mamazed at what MD has created. This weekend made me nervous and the horshoe was pulled out

Now the only problem is that its not a horsehoe but a high end team winning when they have to.

beating unh at their rink and following up with a win without SD clearly shows they are more than a one player team(not counting JC)

great job
won series vs BC, UNH, ME, BU

That is a feat

Maybe he meant NE?

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: taking H.E. one chair-back seat at a time

said without JC and SD.... Which they will if either or both leaves.

JC had 40 shots on him, including 14 in 3rd and as usual, was one of the stars of the game... did a great job on the extended 5/3 aND SHORTHANDED STUFF

Joe Cool stood on his head the first two or so periods while the skaters were getting their feet under them.

The Yopyk pipeline has already produced a nice player in Brendan Ellis and there are at least 4 more on their way. Kyle Singleton (F), Quinn Gould (F) and Isaak Berglund (D) enter next year, then Matt Cronin (D) enters in 2012. From what I'm hearing all of them should slide in to Dennehy's system nicely...most of all I want to see this kid Cronin can do on campus. 6'3" 215 as an 18 year old? I can only imagine what happens when he enters the strength and conditioning program!

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: taking H.E. one chair-back seat at a time

i cant possibly imagine a team that is more fun to be a fan of than this one is right now, its not just that they are winning its the way that they do it, 100% effort all the time from every single player, they all have each others backs and man can they play too. Coach D has done such an incredible job and you can see it game in and game out with the effort of these players and the way they win.

Win at UNH was the Warrior's 8th straight win on the road....hopefully it continues out in Amherst on Friday.

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: taking H.E. one chair-back seat at a time

The school created a Facebook page for Da Costa for Hobey today. I really hope we hear good news. Crossing fingers that he's only gone for a month. It looked real bad and I think the team can manage without him for a month, but it would be great to have him for the post season.

Yeah, a month ago the tune was....enjoy it now because MC will be rebuilding again when the two players leave, now they are better prepared than BC. Funny how things change so quickly.

Kudos to MC. They are on a great run and you can tell they are oozing with confidence. Excited to see how far this team can go.

I'm the last person to be unfair to that era, but Vesey scored a lot of his points against Division 2 competition, as they were only an Independent and did not play anything approaching a fulltime D1 schedule.

I've no doubt that he could have achieved 100 career points against an all-D1 schedule, and it's hardly his fault he didn't get that chance, but I tend to think most people are going to quote career stats for Merrimack players only counting the years since joining Hockey East.

That said, as others pointed out, the article is still wrong since other players have hit 100 points since joining the league.

So where's the youtube of the DaCosta hit???

Pack Network has it. I don't know if it is theirs to do with as they like or not-- I have no idea what the agreement between them, UNH, MC and B2TV is. I've asked on their YouTube page for them to post it; no reply.

Still the article was unfair to Stringer, Porter, Laroche, Kesselring, and Aquino.

Absolutely-- after I posted I added one line to acknowledge that the article was still wrong. I wasn't defending the article's inaccuracies, just pointing out that even had the author gotten everything technically correct, Vesey still might not have been included.
