Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: taking H.E. one chair-back seat at a time

UNH took a run a cannata too but he was ok remember?

A run at him? I sit right there and saw the whole thing. If there was contact it was very slight and incidental -- and from his own teammate. Cannata put on a performance that should earn him an Oscar. He should have got two minutes for embellishment. A ref with any balls would have called it. It was totally bush-league move by Cannata.

I did not see the DaCosta contact but I highly doubt DeSimone "took a run at him" -- he doesn't have that much initiative. There was no call and the ref was right there to see it happen. From what others said it appeared to be incidental contact. It's always unfortunate when a player is injured. Hopefully it isn't anything serious.

Cannata took a knee in the head but i forget by who.

Desimone stuck out his leg. It was clear as day to anyone sitting around me. Even unh people said it was a bad play. There was no call on Collins last week either but according to rye he was suspended for whatever he did. it was also behind the play and besides its hockey east refs so you cant judge a play on what was called and what wasnt.

I've been following Hockey East for a long time now and UNH has always been one of the cleaner teams in the league. I was there and was very upset to see Da Costa go down, but I did not see if it was dirty. I cannot imagine anyone sitting in 112 and 113 where all the MC fans were could see it clearly. I hope Da Costa is alright, but I'd like to withhold judgement until the coaches and league take a look at tape. I'm sure we'll hear something.

I was in 116 with a buddy from UNH. Right across from the red line basically. 10 rows up. Great view.

Cant wait for tomorrow. Time to go take another season series. So pumped for this game. I wonder what happens now if DaCosta is out. Heffernan played c before right? who goes in? him? Whats up with Morton? I think it will be Heffernan or Ouimet in.

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: taking H.E. one chair-back seat at a time

It sucks, it TOTALLY sucks that Da Costa got hurt... but saying it was a cheap shot isn't going to change whatever injury he sustained.

Im all for big hits, but loathe seeing anybody getting hurt. DeSimone isn't a dirty player, and I didn't see anything but two tired hockey players not paying attention heading towards their benches behind the play. We each saw what we saw, and may have to agree to disagree; Keenan and Ritchie are useless, but I am sure the league will take another look. If it was dirty, UNH will get what they deserve, and Coach will probably sit DeSimone extra.

Either way, here's wishing a speedy recovery to #24.

As for taking a run at Cannata... I think the series you're refering to was on the opposite end from me, so I didn't see much... but I do know that Merrimack plays physical, and an offensive rush can quickly turn into a collapse into the net.

I hope the refs do a better job at controlling the game; I saw too many borderline hits go uncalled, and the teams get chippier and dirty as the game progressed. Keenan and Ritchie had no control; that scrum in the second was evidence. When there are that many players involved, the refs need to step in and start separating people.

Good luck the rest of the way (after tonight, if its all the same)!

I hope one of your players takes a run at DeSimone for that cheap shot on DaCosta last night. I'm sure UNH fans are calling it an accident, but you don't stick your knee out and still consider it an accident. Disgusting.

Unh AND several mc fans who actually saw it seem to think it was an accidednt. From where I was, it looked incidental, but if there's evidence to the contrary, desimone should sit.

I didn't see a run at cannata but I did see him flop around like he was shot when there was no contact on him in the third. As a bc fan you probably saw the grossest knee on knee hit when orpik destroyed abbotts knee in 01 and though there was a minor trip on the play, nothing came of it, other than surgery and a couple of missed months....

I hope he is ok though.

True, but only technically. No one "ran" Cannata. Play was right in front of me (literally). Thompson's leg grazed Cannata's helmet unintentionally and he flopped like a European soccer player. You could even see him looking to see if the refs were going to call anything, and then he was fine.

I dont see how someone sticks a knee out and can still say its an accident. If Bigos or someone else did that TO DeSimone then UNH fans would want an investigation and suspension. Like I said, I hope someone takes a run at DeSimone. That would be glorious.

HAHA

the only flopping UNH fans should be worrying about are as follows

1. Cannata flopping to make save after save and beat you
2. UNH NCAA carear playoff runs.

So your answer to an injury that may or may not have been caused by accident is to promote more dangerous and possibly injury incuding hits? ******* alert . . . no, we already knew.

Having never played D-I hockey (having played barely any hockey) I can't say this with much authority . . . but I am sure that, if it is found there was intent on DeSimone's part, then Hockey East, and both coaches, who are class acts, will deal with this appropriately. This isn't the NHL, there's no place for dropping the gloves. AND, I highly doubt Dennehey would do anything like that; if Da Costa is out for a long period (and it looks like he will be), they can't afford to have somebody else get suspended for retaliation.. Merrimack plays physical hockey, and I fully expect DeSimone to get hit -- and hard. But take a run at him? Try to injure him? Glad you're not a coach.

Stop posting tripe like this -- that would be glorious.

Re: Merrimack College 2010-2011: taking H.E. one chair-back seat at a time

Of course they wont. If they get a chance to hit and maybe ahair after the whistle, most teams would and will.

MC's only focus will be to win and continue moving up in national rankings. That needs to be and will be focus. MD is way to smart to allow anything else to happen.

1.) Child please.
2.) Guys at this age know NOT to stick a knee out when skating by a player.
3.) If DiSimone is taken off the ice in the same manner, I will rise and salute the MC player that caused it.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize that you saw the play.

1.) I don't think you can order children off a menu :D
2.) So are you saying that DeSimone didn't stick his knee out? I truly don't understand this sentence.
3.) Once again -- whether or not DeSimone hit Da Costa on purpose -- you are promoting more injury - and saying you'll celebrate it. That's absurdly class-less. I'd rather UNH not have to face a talented player like Da Costa - but not at the cost of his knee, game, season, career, etc . . . and I can't stand anybody who would celebrate an injury to ANYBODY. Your stance on the issue baffles me. I know you don't like UNH, and that's fine . . . but wishing injury on somebody? Seriously?

Sorry, Warriors fans, for interrupting your thread.

Its a hockey game

Of course you want to play MC with Dacosta. That would be like wanting to go watch the Patriots without Brady, even if you were he opposition. You want to watch and beat their best.

Dacosta and Cannata are generational Hockeyeast talents and watching an MC game without them would be no where near the fun.

A valid point, but . . . I'd just rather win :p No, it makes sense. And I'm glad that Merrimack is relevant, even if it costs UNH some points. Strength of the league and all that.

I have no hate towards UNH at all, I couldn't care less. What does bothers me is the UNH fan base who whines after every loss (refs), cries whenever UNH takes a penalty (the player dove) and thinks all their players are gods and could never do something wrong (this DeSimone situation). Give you UNH clods a couple of days and you'll be trying to convince everyone DiSimone wasn't even on the ice at the time. At worst, DiSimone should be suspended (if Diamond at UM was, this guy should, too). I would like to see Bigos put this guy thru the glass tonight.

Careful. Barely touching goaltenders is Bertagna's point of emphasis this season. Expect to find out 10 minutes before the game tonight that Thompson is suspended.
