I wouldn't say he's gone. I don't know the rules but I don't think they can talk contract while he's still in school, maybe someone besides hockydad can clarify. He's not guaranteed to get big money up front so it would make sense to me that he would stay in school then sign after graduation, of course being a UNH fan, id like to see him sign today :)

I think in the NHL now it is all done by your age. So there is a max that he can sign for. I think that max goes away when you're like 26 or 27. Could be wrong but it's something along those lines. There has to be incentive for leaving because a lot of guys do. Good point about talking contract I'm not sure if that is allowed or not. If he doesn't sign anything he doesn't lose amatuer status so it might be allowed. Who knows.....

Since he basically has his choice, I'm inclined to think he'd go to a canadian team.. rumors about campus last year had him leaning toward ottowa. Just hopefully not the habs!

I would need some kleenex if he went to the B's.

A buddy of mine who still goes there (he's like that 30 year old student who never leaves college haha) said that he heard he liked Ottawa Anaheim and Chicago. No clue where he heard it. He could jsut be making it up for all I know. I think he went to anaheim's training camp though.

Great win on the road to put the nay-sayers in their place. Now to finish them off at home in the confines of Lawler.

Was at the UNH game tonight and will echo earlier kudos for Merrimack team this year. They are quick, skilled, and tenatious. Easily could have been a blow-out if not for DiGirolamo in goal. He made some big saves in the first period to keep it close. Three of the four MC goals were good ones. The third was a flukey one with a slap shot bouncing off the glass behind the glass and rebounding right to the front of the net.

Of course to give credit where credit is due, Merrimack actually scored five goals to UNH one tonight. The first UNH goal was deflected in by the defenseman.

UNH had some good chances but the MC goalie made some great saves as well. He pulled back a sure goal in the middle of the third then stole the puck off Kessel stick near the end of the game. He was impressive but the whole defense played well, not allowing many easy opportunities for UNH.

MC plays a style that UNH does not deal with well. When a team has players who can carry the puck, UNH stuggles. Their positional play allows the skaters to move in and, in too many cases, skate around for an open shot. It's been the same all year. If a team skates the puck into the zone, UNH allows too many shots and goals.

UNH did not play with much intensity tonight. They got beat to too many loose pucks and were not at all physical. UNH had only one PP and didn't do much with it (no surprise there). Merrimack had five and converted on only the last, but it was key since it made it a two goal lead. Surprising only one penalty on MC but Cats really didn't force the play. A couple of the UNH penalties were weak calls. The first one, elbow against Kipp, was really a bad call. Kipp laid a hard hit on the MC player along the boards but it was a clean hit. Sometimes refs seem to call a penalty when it's a really hard hit -- they just assume it was illegal.

I hope UNH comes back and plays tough Saturday at Lawler. Will be tough but hopefully they can capture a win. The teams are well matched and turn about is fair play.

Someone said to watch MC fourth line. They didn't play much tonight but they are scary. Very quick and hard workers. UNH's fourth line is good but I don't think they have the defensive skill to match well. I was happy the fourth line didn't play too much tonight.

Was hoping to go to Lawler tomorrow but I hear the game is sold out. Anybody have any extra tickets?

Coach Dennehy has too much class for that. Will not happen. The best way to get revenge is finish off the sweep. Da Costa is a great player, but the MVP of this team is Cannata. The rest of the offense needs to pick up the slack. It looked real bad. He could not put any weight on it.

I dont know. What is the message then? It is ok to cheap shot our guys because we wont stick up for ourselves? There has to be some sort of wakeup call given to unh that it won't be stood for. UNH took a run a cannata too but he was ok remember?

I'm sure they will have Ross, Heywood, Bigos, Stollery and Flanigan ready to hit DeSimone, Thompson, Sislo at every opportunity, but I hope they do it clean and win the hockey game. That is what is important. This isn't the NHL. That's why I love college hockey. I hope they hit hard and win the game. No need to resort to cheap shots in return. I've been a Merrimack fan for many years and I just want a weekend sweep tomorrow. I don't want a blood bath.

I think they need to do something to say hey, this crap isn't going to fly. I dont want brawls and having it cost us the game but Im not opposed to sending Bigos or Ross or Flanigan out there once the game is settled and in hand and tell him that if he gets ejected then that's OK. You have to send a message to the rest of the leage or else all of your stars including Cannata is going to get run at the rest of the year. You open an invitation if you dont respond

I was at the game sitting in the Merrimack corner so did not have a great look at what happened. If it was a cheapshot, I would bet Desimone sits tomorrow night.
