Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

USHR reporting that a 14 year old has committed to Maine...first '96 in the country to commit to a D-1 program. Liam Pecraro of the Boston Advantage.
WAY TOO EARLY for any kid to be thinking where he's going to be playing in say 4-5 years...this has gotten out of control. IMO.

Agreed......but at least he's playing in one of Maine's "pipelines" headed by a former Black Bear no less. :)

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Here's a bit more on next season's recruits........

http://www.pressherald.com/blogs/lenzi/108222034.html

Rutt has also signed his NLI and the PPH reporter states that "Rutt is one of five recruits expected to join Maine in the fall of 2011, joining defenseman Sebastien Gingras and forwards Connor Leen, Brian Harris and Stuart Higgins." Since it was reported earlier in this thread that Cam Brown has already signed......makes me wonder if it is 6 (not 5) for next season and if Leen will in fact end up being a 2011-2012 recruit(?).

Tim Lovell... still awesome!

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Little concerned about Higgins and Harris...If they can't even score in juniors, how do we suppose they are going to score in college? I know teams need roleplayers, but Maine needs scorers to replace Dee, Nyquist and House. Hopefully, Leen and Brown fill those roles and other guys step up to the plate.

I think that Leen and Brown will definitely help the offense.......if not next season, then down the road. Harris is a d-man by the way.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

zero chance Brown is going to help O for a few years, if at all

It is clear that Whitehead and Lovell have a pact in place where he is giving so many spots to Lovells players. I am sure with the agreement that he will push all his better players to Maine in return. The 96 he just took is not even close to teh top 96 in Massachusetts

True but when was the last time we've had one of the top-of-class Mass kid anyway? We've got a lot of MA kids, but they tend to be the guys the Mass schools didn't want...or they have academic issues, etc.

I'm not supporting the move to committ a 96...thats nuts..so much can happen in 4 years. Just sayin, did you ever think Maine was going to land MA's top recruit of any year anytime soon?

The kid is saying he will go there now. He is 13/14 and years(plural) away from going there. Amazing that the last 3 kids who committed from Lovells team all left. They will be exposed to other programs. How can an 8th or 9th grader know for sure what school he wants to go to?

Chances of ever ending up at Maine are less than 50/50

This wreaks of an agenda.

As far as top Mass. recruits......BC and BU get those guys anyway.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

What is this supposed to mean???

Not sure. I do know that Lovell is trying to build a program to compete with the Monarchs of the world and not be a feader for them. He has teams right up to College and I doubt his goal is to take a 14 year old, have him committ and than leave for supposed greener pastures. Will be interesting to see unfold.

No kid at that age is capable of saying he wants to go to U Maine and then standing behind it for 4 or 5 years. Absurd move by Maine and laughable on Whiteheads part.

I think recruiting younger kids is absurd as, well, but it's not the first time it's happened. Look at how young some of the BU and BC kids committed.

..Just remember Matt McNeely,Goalie...sure fire coming to Maine at a young age then down the line he says NO THANKS and is off to UMD next season. With the same excuse...too much traveling at Maine and hard for Family to attend games @ Maine.

This coming from the jilted Derek Arnold fan..........so Boston Advantage players have moved on to play in the EJHL. Big deal.......they want to step up in competition. And some even move on from the EJHL to the USHL.

But it's OK for BU and BC to do it! If this kid was from Canada.......I'd be more concerned. Not gonna be surprised either way.
