Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

...all other Chair-Back seating go for a Donor Cost each Season...

Not a true statement. We have chair back seating and aren't required to pay a "donor cost" as you say.

Lower bowl sections A, B, G, H, R, Q, L & K at minimum are sections where you can get seat backs and not be required to pay a donation.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

It looked to me like they were treating those areas that were moldy

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Was on campus a couple of days ago and it appears they are painting the wood portion of the ceiling white.

Bummer, I like the wood look. Wonder if its to try to prevent the mold from growing?

Not sure. I know most, if not all, of the wood has been scraped and prepped for painting, but only about 1/4 of it is complete. They had to stop because of the camps. Sure hope they are not finished and do the whole ceiling white.

...I was going by what I was told when I purchased Chair-Back Seating over 4 years ago...I actually went in and was showed what cost what...but I never talked about the Lower Section with the small Chair-Back seating...that was never brought up if there was a cost...my error in saying ALL Chair-Backs are Donor Seats per year...it is too bad that they can't get the Chair-Back Seating that is in the Upper Levels in at least 70% of the rink...you have more room, comfortable and easy to get in and out in between periods...but thats Alfond...some people think its great, while others would like to have a more comfortable night at the rink.

I'm not sure if it's the entire lower bowl but those areas in back of the excising seats with backs. My concern is if that is done will we lose seats in the process. There hasn’t been any chatter about a seat tax but you would have to think that this is not a very good time to put it in place.

...I am just guessing on this subject...Chair-Back seating in the Lower area's..."IF" they are like the ones in the Upper Level, you can BET that Blake James will figure out some way to weasel money for them...he looks more or less for the Fast Buck...and I understand thats the position he's in by making money for the Sports Programs...BUT the sad part is he NEVER ask for imput from the FAN's that it will effect...just ask the fan's that lost there seats when they put in the NEW Luxuary Boxes...some made out in getting a different seat to replace the one's they lost...BUT MANY got worse seating then before and they had to keep trying every year after-wards to finally get a decent seat...so anything is possible...

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Whoopty doo!

They need to remove the balcony and run the upper seating around that entire end of the building. Would probably increase seating capacity by a couple hundred and improve a miserable situation for those that currently sit under the balcony. Instead we get another band-aid.......but it's the State 'O Maine way......don't ever build anything new......just expand and remodel 20 times and end up spending more than you would have on a brand new facility in the long run.
But the balcony is the quintessential Alfond feature.

Last week when I called about purchasing new season tickets I was told that all lower bowl seats with chair-backs came with a required $500-1000 donation per year.

If you had those types of seats in 70% of the rink, you'd lose seating capacity. I don't think they'd want to do that at this point unless they're confident they can charge more per seat to make up the difference. Not a recommended strategy in this economy and with the attendance woes of the last few years, IMHO.

Interesting. Maybe all they have left is required donation seats? I know when I moved my seats from the triple letters down to lower bowl chair-backs, I was told that the middle sections on each side were the only ones with donations.

Neither my seats nor my fathers seats were charged a donation, unless we're grandfathered?

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

One quick story on seating, while we're on the topic. I think it was last year or the year before, a couple of new season ticket holders I know when to go to their seats and they didn't exist. I can't remember specifics, but they had bench seats and let's say the row ended at seat #14. They had tickets for seats #15 & #16. They went and told the box office and were placed elsewhere for that game. When they came back for the next game, the entire bench had been repainted to fit two extra seats!!

...More or Less wishful thinking...I don't think you'll ever see that % of seating with Chair-Backs...unless you get a Deep-Pocket Donor willing to spend some extra Ca$h...

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Seat backs will be in the entire lower bowl, not sure when. Seats on the upper levels will remain the same. Only minor changes will be made this year, painting continues, as the ice has been lifted after the closing of the summer camps.

I love watching games in our barn. Great atmosphere!

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

To those who say Cam Browns size wont be an issue, here is an excerpt from USHR about the first EJ event of the year...

"We didn't get to see much of Cam Brown (Maine), as he took a hit and was knocked out of the game during his first shift Friday. "

He is 5'2" or 5'3" tops

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Judging from the recent thread here (irony alert), we must consider that for this individual when not playing, he will easily fit in the Alfond seats, whether it is one with a back or is a painted number seating position on a bench.

On a less whimsical note, I did remark on the "other" Maine thread that it must be quite a long time since our tallest player listed on the roster shows as "only" 6'-4"
