Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Links???

Edit: If you Google "Brice O'Connor has decommitted" you get the following result. First link, but login required. Preview says:

New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs (EJHL) defenseman Brice O'Connor has decommitted from Providence College and will instead be going to the University of Maine ...

Here's a link http://easternjunior.pointstreaksites.com/view/easternjunior/news/news_11473

Little surprised as that gives us 9 d-men for next year, though with injuries we were down to bare minimum a few times this year. Pryor having hip surgery might also take longer to come back from.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Doesn't it concern folks that O'Connor had little to no interest from UNH (his hometown team) and was only offered a partial by the worst team in HE (two years running). The UM defense besides O'Neill and Dimmen was brutal this year. Need help on that.

NO! We should be worried that UNH passed up on him? They also had O'Neill as a committed d-man and then withdrew their commitment to him. And we thank them for that!:D

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: The Search for Spock

Did anybody see ex maine recruit Austin Watson was ranked 14th in the CSB report. Looks like he might of helped out up front. Would be nice to have two top end talents to take some pressure off the 1st line.

Depth D at best, maybe 5/6 tops at maine. Someone wins an award in the EJ and they all of a sudden want more money? What a joke.

If you are talking about Derek Arnold, I couldnt tell you. I have no idea what he got for a deal. I do know that he is light years ahead of Cam Brown and the other F's Maine has coming in, outside Anthoine, who he is on par with.

Arnold was a plus 26, 20 goals and 46 points in his last 34 games, which in that league is off the charts. Also led his team to a 23-12 close and went from out of the playoffs by a good margin to getting in.

Maines loss, that is a fact

It's not "Maine's loss" until he puts up numbers for Lowell and maybe helps them beat the Black Bears.

I'd be more concerned about the under-performing Fighting Irish hockey team if I were you. :)

Of course it is. Anytime you lose a quality player and even better kid it is a loss. Maine needs high end forwards and they had one of the top handfull of players in the USHL this year, a league which has turned their back on Maine.

He is a loss anyway you slice it.

No.....he isn't. Come back next season at this time and maybe you will have a legit argument.

So a team has a recruit from the USHL lined up, their only one. He has a great season and ends up going to a conference opponent instead and that is not a loss?
Opinions vary

Gee I could have swore Anthoine played in the USHL this season! And for that matter so did Higgins!!!!

Only one?

But according to the rep you left me(?) but were to much a coward to sign it, you've forgotten more about Maine hockey than I'll ever know.

Must have been you next to me watching the Tortorella's and Conn play? Or in the broadcast booth watching Maine lose almost every game they played in '82-'83?

Why can't we all be happy that Derek has a place to play in Lowell next year? Wish him well! We'll take our chances with Nyquist, House, Flynn, Dee, Diamond, Abbott, Shemansky, Mangene, Beattie, Corkum, and Anthoine next year!:)

I was there watching before 82-83 BobF, over a decade plus before that.

Anthoine is from USHL, correct

I am not the one who brought Arnold up

You're a fraud! They did not have a hockey team over a decade before then! They started playing Division II in 77-78! I was there the first year they went Division I! Thanks for proving yourself to be the person we all suspected you were!!!

You'll find that I am among the most reasonable people on this board, but I won't tolerate a B.S.er, and you just proved yourself to be the biggest of them all! There was no Alfond, there was NO Maine Hockey in '72-'73 thru '76-'77 so who exactly were you watching???

The world awaits!
