Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Question is will Abbott be around when his Contract ends this coming summer..? Will he leave and let the NEW AD address all that is happening at the U..? For Abbott to do anything in the TW Coaching Change if one was to happen,he would most likely be on board longer then his deal that expires in the summer...so if he gets a extension(Abbott)...does he exit TW..?

Good question, remember what King James did before leaving.

Exactly. These guys are all friends and scratch each other's backs. He can give Whitehead an extension and then not have to answer to anyone because he will be gone.

Yes a scary thought...could it happen,oh yes...but this time he would really put the next AD(if he should leave/Abbott)in a line of fire...not to mentioned a loss in Season Ticket Holders/Single Game saleAdvertising sales and the one that could and would hurt the deep Pocket Donors that would see the writing on the wall that Maine Hockey is just a after thought....Dollars talk, but continued losing and back door deals will lead to a exit of these once easy $$$$$$ flowing into Maine Hockey.

I hope Maine cuts ties with Wolfe. People who want something for nothing aren't going to find much joy in college athletics.
You got your wish, Wolfe is history

Except for the NCAA, which is getting free labor from the students.

I dunno... students who are serious about academics sometimes pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a college degree.

But none of the schools I attended made any money off of my likeness or by selling apparel I wore or charged admission to watch me write an essay. I also didn't have any restrictions on what kind of job I could have, and I certainly wasn't required to take drug tests. When I got a scholarship award I didn't have strict limitations on what things in the bookstore I could spend that on (or even if I had to spend it at the bookstore, or on myself).

I'm not saying "Woe is the scholarship athlete," it's a decent deal (unless you are a basketball or football player forced to risk injury by going to college and playing for free before you are eligible to be drafted), but for the money the NCAA rakes in (granted mostly on football and basketball), it's not like the athletes are the ones making out like bandits here.

Mark Dufour from the the Winthrop/Augusta region has committed to play for Union for 2015...Currently with Kents Hill. Probably the top In-state Division I prospect.

Thinking down the road, with Ouellette & Sullivan being Seniors next season & Morris coming back as a Sophmore...has Maine started to look for another Netminder to go with Morris...never have enough goaltending these days and always looking for the NEXT Jimmy Howard.
