Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

Even with inflated numbers, he should be an improvement over what Maine currently has for offense.

here's a link to campbell's pointstreak page through the GOJHL site.

http://gojhlcms.stats.pointstreak.com/playerpage.html?playerid=4203550

looks like he was still a point per game player two years ago in his 18yr old season with strong goal production.

anything would be an improvement to this year's offense.

Timmay will scrub that scoring habit right out of the kid. Hopefully Timmay wont get the chance.

Alright!.........a 20 year old with a steel plate and screws in his head from a crappy league!!! TIMMAY is still reeling in the blue chippahs!!!!

Hey San Diego, for the third time, please, what do you have on the relationship between Ted Alfond and Whitehead? You eluded. Please elaborate. This is an important piece of the puzzle as to why he's still behind the bench and why he may not be canned. Thanks.

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

I just checked Heisenburg's site...He's the second player in this league to have a Division I commitment. The other is a 17 year old defenseman committed to Cornell. I look at past years the GOJHL hasn't produced an player in his "overage year" (20 year old) with a DI college commitment. Not saying this isn't a good league because a lot of those 16-17 year olds are OHL prospects but it seems out grown the league looking at his past stats. You would like him to be in a Junior A league (OJHL, CCHL, USHL etc).

This commitment just shows how Maine's current season is affecting recruiting.

I wouldn't automatically disqualify this kid because of the league. There could be some kind of family reason or something like that. Look at Penner's background, that certainly was unconventional to say the least and he turned out to be okay.

Correct you can't disqualify the kid because of the league but with that said this is an extremely week league to be recruiting D1 players from for sure!

Who knows he could be a Dustin Penner and surprise us all. The difference between him and Penner is Penner literally came out of the wood works. Like I said the GOJHL is a heavily scouted league. Scouts have seen him for three years now in this league. Why did it take Maine to finally recruiting him in his overage year?

That's a disgusting comment to make about someone who could have sustained a more serious injury. Very much out of line.:(

Obviously, I can't answer your question, but Maine recruiting older players was the norm rather than the exception 10 - 15 yrs. ago.

It was a rhetorical question ;)

Maine lands another recruit

The University of Maine men’s hockey team has gone up to Ontario to grab another forward for next year’s recruiting class.

Brady Campbell, a 20-year-old native of Blenheim, Ont., is currently in his third season with the Elmira Sugar Kings of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League where he has 38 goals and 27 assists in 35 games.

He had UMass-Lowell, Cornell, Niagara, and RIT also looking at him.

Methinks (strictly opinion, here) that Tim-bo-laya got gunshy on the older players after a few "team rules" related incidents. We all know if you are not of legal drinking age, you won't drink in college...

Re: Maine Recruit Updates: Monarchs and More......

not going to lie, i don't even think he was the best player on his line. #22 was the one that stood out to me. Seemed like he benefited largely from #22s efforts.

However, his positioning was good, he has a shot and it looks like he works well within a system. All things Tim will work out of him before he either graduates or leaves the program...
