Daniel Renouf was named USHL's defensive player of the week today. Eric Schuhamer has started the year on the 45 day IR.

Maine adds Byron to 2013 recruiting class

The University of Maine men’s ice hockey team added to their 2013 recruiting class with a verbal commitment from forward Blaine Byron, who currently plays with the Kemptville 73’s of the Central Canada Hockey League.

“I chose Maine because I really felt it was the best fit for me and I got a real good vibe from the coaches,” said Byron. “I also really liked how they get so many fans a game and really wanted that sort of atmosphere to play in front of every night.”

Sportsmaniac - I appreciate very much (as I'm sure others do), all of the time it takes to research and post this information on recruits. Is there a way to format this so it is easier to read? Don't mean to be critical.

I have tried doing it on here...I am thinking of doing a google document page so its easier on the eyes.

Blaine Byron has been named to the Canada East selection camp for the World Junior Challenge which begins November 5th in Nova Scotia. This is the same tournament Devin Shore had major sucess last year

So many USHL guys.....seems crazy to say it but there's some hope for the future on that spreadsheet

it all depends on how they develop at the end....................this might look good on paper now but would not put much trust in this

Whitehead's contract expires at the end of the 2013-2014 season... so we've got at least one more year after this disaster, unless abbott is willing to act sooner... my understanding is that private money to buy him out was in place a few years back but the trigger wasn't pulled...

blake james extended whitehead and then took a job at miami three months later

Yes indeed...but the Question will be is Abbott willing to pull the trigger...??? He did with Blodgett...but that was a Cup-Cake handed to him(Record: 21-91)...James deal was done for his Buddy and that put Abbott in a tough position from the get-go...and Kennedy vetoed the Buy-Out a few years back. No matter what...if they can't see this is a "MESS"...well..?

To me its a simple decision for Abbott. If he, the University, the fans, the alumni and the State O'Maine in general is satified going forward being a middle of the pack, average, nothing special type of team for years and years into the future, then Timmay's the man (God forbid). If Abbott wants to take a real shot at the top of the pack with a dynamic new coach, that choice is always there....change is good.

Hopefully they(UMaine & Abott)see it like you do along with MANY others...this Train Wreck has gone on too long.
