Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

If Kennedy was not going to take the buyout money and BUY TIM OUT, then, you are right, nobody has a lot of power. The money was there this summer. It got there too late.

I can promise you one thing, though, Tim is done at the end of this contract, at the latest.

He spend an entire weekend grilling the team about what they knew about the buyout... it made for a very uncomfortable couple of bus rides.

Thats why I made a comment about him even caring. He knows he's on his way out.

Where ARE the Timmy apologists?

Surely 4 frozen fours THIS decade has got to mean something?

0 National Championships and after this season 3 straight seasons not making the NCAA tournament. There aren't any TIMMAY apologists left. We all want him shown the door.

How could TIMMAY go from being such a good coach earlier this decade with Walsh's recruits and Standbrook on the staff.......to such a horrible coach later this decade with his own recruits and Standbrook no longer there????

Its funny the goaltending went away when Grant did, of course Tim had no use for him so :)

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Really?

I thought the best way to back up your injured teammate was to win the game.

But, I suppose if you don't have the talent to do that, gooning it up is a good alternative.

Thats what I thought too but you are right, Maine doesn't have the talent to do that

Maybe they ought to abuse some sausage patties. (why dontcha treat me MEAN?)

Yeah, Grant managed to make good goalies out of Alfie Michaud and Matt Yeats, who were both pretty terrible their freshman years. Both of them got to National Championship games, with one of them winning one, and the other 10 minutes of Timid Timmy coaching away from another.

It does seem strange that Grant leaves, and suddenly the goaltending sucks. Wonder what the reason for that might be?

Actually, that might not be true. They may have enough talent, but there's a black hole of uselessness standing behind them on the bench.

Don't be fooled because they have more than just Nyquist at forward.

I'm not saying they're as talented as past maine teams, but they surely had enough talent to beat both UMass and UHN this past weekend. Lousy goaltending did them in both nights.

It would be interesting to see what a real good coach could do with the talent they do have on this team. Win more than 13 games, certainly.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Someone wake me up when they make some major changes to the program. I feel like it's a waste of everyone's time to go through the motions like this.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Hey,let's be fair here...

Whitehead probably had a better run than any other coach in the nation early on in this decade.Say what you will about "why",but Maine was very much in the championship hunt all the time back then. That the success of those days was of his making is certainly in doubt (see:Grant),but he won a lot of games. So,he was a good steward of the program...Back then.

By the same token,he deserves the blame for Maine's 3 year nose-dive.He clearly is not a recruiter, and he hasn't shown that he can do anything with mediocre talent. His work is sub-par these days. So,he needs to be dismissed.

Thing is,I think this team is the best Maine team in a while, goaltending aside.Easily the best since 07-08,and I think better than even the FF team of 06-07,as far as forwards go.Someone should be able to figure out how to linger around the Mendoza line with this crew guys,FCS.

All I want for Christmas is a new regime in Orono stuffed in my stocking.I like Corkum right now.Let's see what he can do with the same raw material Tim had. That'll be a good yardstick to measure him by.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

It's amazing how giving a player an "A" or "C" affects players on this team for the worst. i.e Marshall, Danis-Pepin, Dimmen.. All those guys seemed to play better before they became captains

Seeing as the goalie is the most important position on a hockey team, being better at forward is little consolation

Well, if the forwards could average 6-8 goals a game... Maine forwards have to step it up. ;) :p

I agree...................eliminate those soft goals, especially the ones from behind the net and banking off the pads................The boys still work hard though and battle back !
