Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

I was beginning to think you were ODing on the kool aid, could to see you've come back :p

I never left. I just hope ta hell that Bob Corkum and the kids wearing those blue jerseys can find it in themselves to resurrect a bit of what Maine Hockey is/was all about and bring some pride back to the fans who are well deserving of it.

We all hope that but Tim is still the boss and playing time comes through him. Their's only so much Corkum and the Kids can do

Speaking of Corkum, I wonder how Kellen is doing, hopefully his head issues are healing and he likes going to school in Orono

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Has he won a road game yet?
Nope he hasn't. So we have a senior goalie who has never won a road game and a senior forward who has never scored a goal must be a first at Maine to have both on the same team?

How can you not like going to school at Orono? School was all about the guyz and girlz you made friends with and had good times. Best yearz of my life, no question....though I cant complain now.

Ima glass half full kinda guy. Though things are tough right now, I firmly believe that they wont go on this way forever. There's still momentum left over imo from the glory years to bring this program back to a very respectable level. Anything less is unacceptable in my book.

Shoving towels under the door was fun?:D

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Anybody making the trip to Union this weekend? I have heard that there are at least a few fans heading out this way. Only about 3 hours for me from Rochester which is much better than the 11 hours to Orono! Hope to see a lot of familiar faces as we start the season!

GO BLUE!

Bought my tickets today. I'm looking forward to the trip and am really excited about seeing what the team can do this season.

Kerluke was the other coach...not Whitehead.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

yeah Whitehead wasn't on either bench

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

He had two years with Grant and showed no improvement to speak of. As far as today goes he gave up two really bad goals glove side and saw quite a few less shots than Darling or Sirman.

Ben Bishop didn't do a whole lot of improving under Grant either.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

I'd kill for a return to the days when Maine had great goaltending and could kill you in transition.

I'd kill for the days of the 2004 team, who, while not all that exciting to watch offensively, were just so technically proficient defensively and tactically, and hard working, that they just beat the snot out of other teams and wore them down until they came away with a victory. It was pretty amazing to watch when you think back on it. Just brutally efficient.

I'd settle for a Maine team that was stronger in the third period than their opponents, that would throw the puck in the corner and then pound the crap out of the opposing player and skate out with it. That wasn't out-hustled and out-muscled for sixty minutes, night-in, night out.

1999 was a good example of that

They also were smart, and calm, and had a defenseman(Metcalf) who could carry the puck and make plays. UHN was panicky and nervous and would just dump the puck in, and Metcalf would just skate back, cooly collect it, and then start the play back up ice.

Watching that, time after time, I just knew it was only a matter of time before Maine won it.

Unlike 2001, when watching it and I knew it was only a matter of time before Minnie scored to tie it up. In that game, Maine was the nervous, panicky team just dumping the puck in. Nice coaching, TIMMAY.

It was 2002, and as soon as I saw piotkowski on the ice I knew Maine wasn't going to win.
