Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Not as good as those 3 but not many where.

More like a Ben Ferriero, Jason Lawrence type. Good pick up for Maine.

I assumed he was coming there in 2010

no, that was kind of my point.
Maine fans will have to watch him wearing a different jersey, if we are going to watch him.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

he is still coming to maine??

I thought he was. if so, good for maine

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Derek Arnold was supposed to come this year but was asked to do another year in jrs so he uncommitted.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

they must have a heck of team over the next 4 years then.

I don't really get why he de-committed then is going back to the USHL anyway. I wonder if timmy would've brought him in over beattie had he not de-committed. Very weird situation.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Whitehead brought in Beattie because Bergman decided not to come. Apparently Arnold was the weakest link in 2009 recruits

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

again, if he was the weakest link you have one heck of a team. I dont believe it for a second and what I saw in Sioux City, Maine lost a good one

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

I love it when a friend teases you with a bit of information so you have to beat the rest of it out of him.

I HAVE NO FRIENDS.

and NOBODY has a report from the lobsterbake weekend?

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Maine is only getting one game on NESN this season and none on ESPNU.. The one NESN game is at BU Feb 12th.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Maine picked 8th in HE preseason poll! The good news is if they do in fact finish 8th then Timmay will more than likely be shown the door. If they come up with a 5th or 6th place finish then I think Timmay keeps his job.
I think they will be a 6th place team and unfortunatley Blake James will look at that as progress.

Not one ESPNU?

I'll have to look at their lineup of games. This news might just save me a fair amount of money every month....(grumble, Cox communications pricing, grumble)

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Mr. Whitehead: when you get picked to finish eighth-- after an eighth place finish the previous year-- then the coaches around the league must be really excited about either a) your improvement via recruiiting OR b) your ability to get a team to improve.

Thus, here are two of the possibilities-- Mr. Whitehead and his merry band of sycophants have found the hidden gems, will have an incoming class that overachieves and will finally be recognized for the brainiacs we all know they are . . . OR someone, who was handed a great and successful program, should be shown the door.

I am a little surprised to not be picked ahead of UMass-- being picked ahead of NU would not have shocked me either-- but being picked eighth has absolutely got to be another wake up call BECAUSE THIS IS WHAT TIM'S PEER GROUP THINKS (no smart a** comments about what Mr. Whitehead's real peer group would look like)--

This is huge-- it means that the win v. BU meant nothing to the coaches, that the incoming frosh added to a huge soph class are derided . . . that our netminding situation is considered a serious problem . . .in other words, all of the things our fan base is counting on, the coaches say is simply wishful thinking.

My honest guess was 6th (ahead of NU/UMass) -- But eighth is a real slap in the face. Wow.

Good. ESPNU was one of the reasons Maine got stuck with a bunch of Sunday games in the past and this year they only have one so I consider that a plus.

That is how LOW the program has sunk when the Coach is happy at finishing 7th or 8th in Hockey East, winning maybe 14-15 games.....well it used to be when a recruit was recruited...he was told we play for Championships at Maine.......no BS....if you come here be prepared to work and play hard......and also would add what a place to play at Alfond and how super the fans home and the traveling away fans are......but this is going down the drain VERY FAST......changes need to be made...will they???? Uh.....your guess is as good as mine........but good to hear people are feed-UP............
