Yeah, but lowell's talented players back then were not Swedish

baptiste Amar, Laurent Munier and Yorick Treille

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

In Normal years I'd be chomping at the bit for any Maine hockey, even the blue white game, this year not sure I even want to go. is this attitude throughout the fan base?

Really unfortunate that there is no more buzzzzzzzzzzzzzz about the new hockey season at Maine. It seems that the marketing dept and fund raising volunteers have run out of steam............................

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

If everything comes together, and I do mean everything, I think the talent is capable of a 4th place finish in HE. But, thats in a perfect world...which iznt happening with Timbo at the helm. I believe 1/3 into the season he'll manage to phck up whatever chemistry, momentum, confidence these kidz might develop on their own.

So I'm forecasting a 4th place finish with Tim getting run out of town by the new year just on general principle :D
I predicted Maine 5th back in April. Standing by my picks.

The only buzz would be if Timmay left or got canned....until then expect nothing but that "look of confusion:confused: and the sting "do" :D behind the bench and an awful stench coming from the roadkill that Maine hockey has become..... I think it was a sign yesterday my tickets were deemed undeliverable by the post office and returned to the tix office. Even the mailman knows when something smells bad like crap.

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Can't they buy out his remaining contract then? It's time for them to go to the media and bypass the inept UMaine President and Administration.

Probably some kind of legal thing that doesn't allow private people to pay a state owed contract.

On Football, days late: Horrible loss, shame on Cos. He was inept. Season's over. You can't go into the CAA schedule needing a minimum 6 wins. No body wins 6 in that league.

BUT

Double shame on Blake James.

How an AD in this day and age can't get a CAA team a home game against an NEC team is a real head scratcher. Kind of like how he can't get a Division 1 team to visit Orono, either.

The fact that James couldn't get anyone but St. Cloud State to come to Orono had torpedoed this team's playoff hopes, just like the fact that he couldn't get anyone but Shaw to show up in 2006. You need D1 wins if you want to make the playoffs in this league. You're in the best league in the country. Get a game.

End rant.

Tim Whitehead admits he is praying for Nyquist to become a superstar this year.

Not for nothing, but he doesn't have to pray much. That's already happened/a shoo-in.

What he needs to pray for is that at least one guy around him becomes a superstar, and at least two others at least insert themselves into the conversation for all-Hockey East. Don't even make it...just earn consideration. That'd be a step up.

I logged into USCHO for the first time in 2-3 months, saw this post, and figured I'd respond.

I'll be back after the season starts, if I remember when it happens.

Him breaking laws and cutting corners wont do anything but get Maine in trouble again like 1995, they're still getting watched heavily by the NCAA they need to be careful. The team will turn around just wait

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

I checked the goblackbears.com website this morning. Appears the roster has been updated. 2 observations:

1. Its too bad that we can not get any kids from the NH Junior Monarchs. ;)

2. " A business major... Born July 30, 1989... Son of Maria and Jens Leidermark... Has two sisters, Ida and Anna."

The Blue White game is sunday afternoon, how exciting

Re: Maine offseason part II...Countdown to slightly above the Mendoza line.

Watched Derek Arnold thios past weekend in Buc Bowl/USHL Fall Classic

He won the final game for them in a shootout and looked very good. Just the kind of player Maine will like to watch. Hard working, honest player with a scorers touch.

we will like to watch him sort of the same way we liked to watch Haydar, Gionta and Drury?

we are not going to be watching him in 2-tone blue jerseys, right? or was that what you were saying?

on another note, did anyone who attended the lobsterbake this past weekend have any notes to share?
Any Speeches worth repeating? Anyone there or not there worthy of note?
How was the turnout?
what did we learn?
I assume Payson was not in attendance, or was he?
