Wind up workin' in a gas station
Someone's had their future-sight working tonight.
Well, except the goaltending part
Someone's had their future-sight working tonight.
Same ol same ol. You get ur hopes up because they rack up some wins over poor teams other than BC. This team is very mediocre and Red does not have them headed in the right direction.
Pretty sad showing tonight...no excuses but that we all witnessed BAD HOCKEY...@ Merrimack,maybe 1 point...Home v. NU,maybe and that's a maybe 2 points and finally @ PC,no points.FORE!!!
Over/under in the 6 remaining HE games, 2 pts, I'll take the under
Very disappointing to say the least
Notre Dame skated in and around the crease at will, while Maine had to fight and do whatever just to get a smell of the crease...and without any success. The 1st goal more or less was ND team meeting with multi attempts to score. I can only wait to hear how there going to change it around for next weekend and how they LEARNED a valuable lesson....blah/blah/blah...maybe you'll see Gendron at the Womans B-Ball game today handing out free tickets for the last home series v. NU.That was as bad a hockey game as you'll ever see. Jeff Jackson hockey is as boring as it gets and Maine couldn't have beaten a high school team. Friday night night they were fast physical and fun. Saturday they were lying on a table in a morgue. The D was awful, the Goaltending wasn't any better but when there are multiple ND players between the goalie and the Maine D what do you expect. Anchors Aweigh
Poor coaching was the problem last night. When the head coach of a D1 hockey program has no idea why his team isn't motivated, isn't listening to his instructions and basically doesn't give a chit whether they win or lose........that falls on the coaching staff. Period!! I won't watch or listen to another game this season. This team has basically given the middle finger to it's fan base....so I'm giving it back to them. Clean house as far as I'm concerned at this point.
You can't completely blame the coaching if the players themselves weren't all vetted by the current coaching staff before coming to Maine for their coachability and competitiveness. Even if Gendron himself says that it's all on him for not properly motivating, the real failure is the inability of the players to buy into the program on a consistent basis. Leen provided some insight last night when he said they were "mentally lazy." It's not about just putting a full 60 minutes in a night. Obviously these guys aren't willing or able to sustain the amount of concentration and energy level that it takes to compete for two games in a row during a weekend series. They better figure that out soon, because they aren't going to have any chance at all in making it past the first round of Hockey East if they can't play well enough to win two out of three in a playoff series.
This team is not giving anyone the middle finger! Watching them play this weekend it is unfortunately apparent that our boys were out-manned by a bigger, stronger, faster and more talented Notre Dame team. When they play to the utmost of their abilities, play as hard as they are capable, play their systems flawlessly and get great goaltending they can compete with anyone but they don't have any margin of error. All of the goals against were the result of either brain cramps, or being beat by a bigger, stronger opponent that can play. Everyone is disappointed (except Notre Dame), but I am still hopeful for a positive end to the season that leaves us feeling optimistic for next year. As a positive, several players are playing their best hockey of the year. Big weekend coming up!
