Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

why would anyone buy season tickets? The black bears no longer sell out anymore. Thanks again tim for ruining a winning tradition as well as what used to be the best barn and atmophere in college hockey.

Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

For a few years,it was about poor recruiting...(That was bad enough, right?)But the talent is here this year.

If Tim can neither recruit consistently, nor win when he actually has talent on board,I don't see what he has to offer.I would much prefer to see a Maine guy like Corkum crack the whip than to see another season swirl around the drain with no sense of desperation.

Maine has enough to give BC a real test on Sunday. If that doesn't happen,I'm gonna rent a billboard in Bangor.(Anybody want to chip in?)

I see your current locale is New York, and you're a Maine graduate of 1981, no? Maine's too snotty for billboards these days ;) (not that Im complaining...just saying...a different form of advertisement will be necessary :) )

You really think that? I don't. Can they win, sure but they aren't close to BCs league in talent. BC 5 Maine 2

"They outplayed us and outworked us and our goaltender won the game for us," said Maine Coach Shawn Walsh, whose team will face Boston University in the championship game Sunday afternoon. "We had no focus at the beginning and Notre Dame jumped us early."

But there was a coach who could recognize what was going on with his team, wake them up and get their attention, and get them straightened out so those bad habits didn't continue for the entire game, and instead, got them back on track so they could win the game.
The Maine Black Bears used tight defensive play and 28 saves from goaltender Blair Allison to overcome Notre Dame, 4-1, Friday in the opening game of the sixth annual Great Western Freeze-Out at the Forum

Timid Tim's teams give up after the other team scores one goal, and he's powerless to do anything about it. So they take the rest of the night off and give up six more

BC comes to the Alfond having not played since January 8th against Providence (BC 3-1). It will be a hard fought battle with Maine winning in OT 4-3. BC will come in taking Maine a little too, lightly. I would say Maine wins in regulation but Diamond is not playing.:(

Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

Actually, what happens is Maine looks past PC...PC shocks em 3-2, Maine hangs their heads and BC smacks em good....Timmays house is burnt down by a group of very unhappy fans. Timmay resigns and leaves town....Maine fans rejoice. :)

Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

Some trends from the 2007-08 season to present, that period hence forth known as the Timpocalypse:

In two game sets against BC, Maine is 0-6-2 being with a goal differential of 16-32.

On the single game weekend, it's 1-1-1 and 4-8.

At Conte, it's 0-5-1 and 7-25.

At Alfond, it's 1-2-2 and 13-15.

Point being, IF they're going to get close to BC, it's going to be on a single game weekend up north.

That and with all the talk about snowpocalypse I needed a way to get Timpocalypse up here:eek:

Does anyone know if O'Connor is a healthy scratch?
he was always out against top lines when he did play, and his plus minus was fine in the past few games.

We've heard from both Whitehead and the players and they've both told us that they didn't really even try to win. The coach presumably noticed this sometime during the game and yet he did nothing to change that dynamic. This seems to happen about every other game lately. WHY should I pay money to support an embarrassment like that? I used to be proud to say I was a Maine fan and absolutely LOVED watching Walsh's teams outhustle and outhit the competition almost every time I went to the Alfond. It was a real thrill to see OUR kids show other teams what it meant to really COMPETE on the ice, night after night. As a fan, if I go to a game and the team doesn't even try to win for all 60 minutes, and freely admits that, then I feel cheated and like I've been taken for a sucker. If I paid to watch a competition and they decided not to compete, why aren't they offering refunds?! I gave up my season tix a couple of years ago for that reason, but have still been going to most of the games by buying tix at the door. But now, given the choice between watching a good HS basketball game where the kids are giving all they've got to win, or going to the Alfond and becoming even more frustrated by them not even TRYING to win, I have to choose to watch the team that COMPETES!

Just saw on wabi news timid timmy said "I think the loss to merimack was a good thing, now the guys will be motivated this weekend". That pretty much says it all I don't think I need to add my two cents.

I saw that also, the expletives I threw at the TV made my dog run and hide:D

How is losing 7-1 a good thing? We're screwed for another 3 years. TIMMAY doesn't have a clue

Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

I guess since the coach has no motivational tools, this is about the best we're gonna get in that department. I have a hard time figuring why you need to have your azz handed to you to get motivated, but that's just me, I guess.

They sold out the last home weekend...and I don't recall Timmy changing the arena, if the Alfond was the best barn in college hockey it still is. People will buy season tickets because they are LOYAL (not fairweather) fans of the team who actually enjoy watching hockey. There have been some speed bumps (pot holes), but this team scores/wins a lot at home, they're fun to watch and the games are loud and exciting. But there shouldn't even be a correlation between team performance and atmosphere, fans should be enthusiastic about watching their team play regardless of performance. Do you think Cornell fans enjoy watching their team play poorly, obviously not, but Lynah is still sold out every game and probably the loudest building in hockey.

Well, he's been playing tremendous, inspired hockey....but he DOES like to finish his checks....so probably...

Don't worry, he'll only be scratched for 3 more weeks before debuting as our new top line center.
