What is the phone number and time to call for the Tim Whitehead show?

I've never listened to it before but will give them a ring tonight

not sure haven't called since that time but I was listening on 97.1 they give the number out on the air. Here is a link to old shows as well as dates to when the next ones air. You can listen to the shows by clicking the links. If you listen to an old brodcast u can probably get the number.

If you have listened to past shows or tune into some of them you will hear nothing but excuses from timmid timmy from his team being young, travel problems, and my favorite how the improovment of the alfond will be giving them a lift in recruiting!

Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

It's too bad we don't have a coach with the balls to do this:

because Friday night, I'd be scratching the veterans sending the message: If our leadership isn't going to show up when we need it to, then I'm looking for new leaders. Who is going to lead by example?

Think it's bad medicine to scratch your captains??? Think it sends the wrong message? Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot we had a winning formula going on here...

I'd scratch House (he's had NOTHING these last few months), Dimmen (health and message), Flynn (short of the hatty against UMass where the **** has he been??), Banwell (team worst -6), and Leidermark (he just suckeths)

Then shake up your lines. Who cares? Do we HAVE a 'best foot forward' right now?!?!

I'd reward my players who have been consistantly showing up and working hard: My top line would be Mangene centering Joey and Kyle. Screw it. Give Kyle an opportunity to succeed and see if he can do anything with it. You know Matt and Joey will bust their balls out there, they're 2 of the only ones doing it in every situation.

Put Abbott, Dee and Nyquist on the 2nd line as the...you've been performing decently, but we really don't HAVE a 1st line right now, so you don't get that time by default. Earn it.

Amestoy, Swavely and Shemansky can be my: chip on their shoulders prove something 3rd line, and we all know I love to put Kelen and Mark together on the 4th.

O'Connor gets 1st D pairing with O'Neill. I'd remind Hegarty that if Nick could go, his roster spot this week would be threatened. And I'd give Shawn another look in the net.

OR, we could be doing the same old **** we're doing every week, because that is CLEARLY our 'best chance to win'.....right?

BUT, knowing lame-brain's plan of action and success, he'll probably have Josh Seeley centering the 3rd line fully padded, and Nemec winging the 1st.

I just listened and scanned the 2 most recent shows. Instead of like last years shows where the final say 10 mins was a set for fans to call in it seems now that they may have goten rid of that segment. The last 2 shows in that last 10 mins had the womens hockey coach and cindy blodget on the other. I tried to find last years show where I called in but the archive only goes back as far as last fall.

Seen in the Uncle Henry's... not sure if it shows in Craigslist though.

For Sale: One used HE hockey coach. Slightly used. Will consider trade for York or Parker. No Umiles need apply.

;)

It means the season is over. Pinhead has coached this team into oblivion by December once again. And he is here for 2 1/2 more years. p

3.5, he had a year and they signed him to 3 more

Can a state school justify simply buying out a coaches contract in this economic environment in Maine just because the team is struggling? I think you guys are stuck in Timmay Time for the forseeable future for this reason.

The only way is a private buyout, someone steps up(can you say Garth) and donates the money. I still think it looks bad and won't happen, so yes, we're stuck

Dont sound so dire. Try to put a positive spin on it. As in, we're not stuck , we're blessed to have Whitehead. We can delelop this theme, I'm sure. It has potential and a future amongst Maine fanz....wait for it.... ;)

i.e....think like this...we werent beaten 7-1...we lost ONE touchdown (and an xtra point) to ONE extra point. :D So in reality we only lost 2-1, see? :)

Ok, We're blessed to have a coach who won't let his players hit anyone, his ideal hockey player is one of the dippsy doodle twins, skate around in circles and turn the puck over up high, who else has a coach like that, thats right only us at UMaine:D
Oh yeah, don't forget about those frozen fours;)

Or maybe Timmay figured out that he'd never win a NC and make it to the Maine Sports Hall of Fame as a hockey coach, so he decided to become the best thing that's happened to Maine basketball since Rufus Harris. Ten years ago I wouldn't have thought it possible, but when the Pit remodeling project is complete, by the time Timmay's contract is up, he may well have succeeded in once again making basketball the number one winter sport in Orono.

I agree that Maine is stuck with TIMMAY through next season........no way that a brand new AD comes in and fires a coach right off the bat.........BUT if Maine misses the NCAAs this season and next, all bets are off. Hopefully, we won't all be senior citizens by the time a new coach steps in :(.

Have to love the quotes from the article on the BDN website. One thing Whitehead forgets to say is that "our so-called coach is also an embarrassment."

“Against a strong team in their own rink, you’ve got to pay the price and play harder than that,” said Maine coach Tim Whitehead. “Their top players outplayed our top players. Our so-called first line (Robby Dee between Gustav Nyquist and Brian Flynn) was an embarrassment.”

“We didn’t come to play today,” said Dee

“Take nothing away from them. They took it to us pretty good in all areas of the ice. After that first goal, we stopped playing,” said Dee

We got outworked again. They came out a little hungrier than we did and it definitely swung the tide,” said Maine senior defenseman and assistant captain Jeff Dimmen

I don't care how much talent, or how little talent any maine team might have, but there's one thing they can control, and that's being the hardest working team on the ice. Sadly, in the reign of Timid Tim, and especially in his teams since Greg Moore left, getting outworked by the other team happens far more often than the opposite. There've been a bunch of Maine teams with similar or lesser talent than this one, but they achieved great results simply from their work ethic. How many times over the last four years have we seen players say these words, or something siimilar?

I don't know whether they just don't recruit the hard as nails kids anymore, or we're just stuck wioth a bunch of over-privileged prima donnas on this team, but this crap has got to stop. A good coach would make it stop, real quick. But we've got Whitehead.

Sure wish Bobby Corkum would take them skating again. :D

Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

Maybe...based on his post game remarks...

“They did a good job finishing their checks. It’s a tough style to play against. It wears on you,” said Dimmen

Imagine how worn other teams might be if Maine tried this once in a while?
