Cool. Looking forward to my seat back. :)
I stopped going to Merrimack a while back as I thought it was more of a dump then anything else...hopefully that has changed and glad to hear they are fixing the place...give a UPDATE on how you think they've done to the rink/seats etc. -- GO Maine.

Don't people go to hockey games, college hockey especially, for the love of the game? Personally it doesn't matter to me where I see a hockey game. Whether it's on a bench, in a chair, standing by the glass, outside on the side of the pond, I love the game.

I find myself actually paying more attention to the game being played if there's no video board to show replays etc. I know that sounds like some lame excuse to not having things like that at the rink, but I think there's some truth to it.

Whenever I watch hockey games at BC and BU I find myself staring at the video board, or not paying too close attention to the game because you can catch the replay. You may not consciously do it, but next time you're at a game, take a minute and stop and think about it, it may surprise you.

Quite frankly though, you're right, the school made the jump to D1, and to Hockey East but kept their D2 rink. The new chairs have a great feel to it, added some comfort and modernization but kept the cramped style of Lawler that has made it such a hard place for visiting teams to play at. I think it's a great place to watch a game, just like alfond. The atmosphere of the barn, rustic-type arena will always surpass the steril agganis in my mind.

Should be a hell of a game.

Miami gets goose egged by Ohio State 1-0 tonight. Redhawks are now 11-7-3.......any Maine fans still convinced that they are the Second Coming?..........

I still think they will be there at the end...but for what it's worth...and NOT MUCH...hahhaa....here's who I think will be in The Frozen 4 in April and with that you can give me WHO you think will be there...my 4 are: North Dakota/Miami-Ohio/Boston College/Minnesota-Duluth...and with that maybe others at the halfway point can throw in who they think at this point of the Season will be playing for the Hardware in Minnesota.

Always loved that arena, primarily because nobody showed up and you could sit wherever you liked,"assigned seating" or not...(Yeah,it was usually freezing, but there wasn't a bad seat in the house, and Maine won there nearly every time.)

MC is a lot better lately,Da Costa is an elite talent,etc...But MC is still an upstart program in my mind.I like Maine in a squeaker.

Anybody know if Merrimack is back in session? It's a small building and they've been banging out the place. I don't want to go to N. Andover and not get it.

Students are not back yet, but from what I hear it's nearly sold out, limited standing room and a few seats remain.

Merrimack has a great home ice advantage this year. I'm sure that's helping fill the seats and the UMaine Alumni Association is having a board meeting in Andover today, so there might be more Maine fans there than usual.

Ouellette in goal and Dimmen back, think we can win?

I can't see Dimmen being on top of his game but I think he helps the PP. I'm surprised Martin is in net, he has played well but so has Sully.

At noon I was able to buy a ticket on Merrimack's site. I wonder if there will be other people like me who aren't connected to either school, but think it's going to be a great game to take in. Having seen both the Black Bears and the Warriors already this year, I wonder if Maine fans know that Merrimack is for real.

1. The games MC has down the stretch with the BUs, Maines, and UNHs will go a long way in determining if this team is "for real."

2. I still would like to see MC win some tougher road games. 2-3-2 isn't bad on the road in the league but their only 2 Ws were NU and UML, two of the more putrid teams in this terrible league.

Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

good lesson learned for the black bears tonight

heh heh heh...

I cannot wait for him to bench this guy and throw that guy under the bus.

Merrmack came at them with4 hustling, physical lines.
They toyed with players's minds behind the play, they have a good goalie,
they passed TO FOREHANDS, they hustled... they have a good coach.

but none of that matters when Maine has all those frozen fours.

Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

Simply put: Maine was taken to the Wood-Shed and Thrashed....lesson's or NOT....

Re: Maine Black Bears 2010-2011 - Part Deux

I've walked out of 2 Maine hockey games. Well now it's three because I didn't want to watch that crap tonight. Nevertheless, here's my "expert" analysis. It was really three games in my mind. Maine came out hard and got the first goal. Marty absolutely screwed the pooch in the first; those are just saves that a D1 goalie has to make. I know the shot total was heavy Merrimack but I didn't feel that was an indicator of play; it was a 1-1 game, it should've been even. Moving on to the next phase, the second, Maine had momentum and was playing well. Their own power play took that momentum away at least twice, then coughs up any real chance by giving up a 2x1 shorthanded break. It was played reasonably well until the far D, I believe it was O'Neill, chased the puck behind the net because that's where he thought it was headed; unfortunately for him, it went through the crease and it was an easy tap in. Third phase, Maine came out hard again to start the third, couldn't get one by Canata and Merrimack got the 5th goal on what I'd call a fortutious bounce. Maine stopped skating after that, sixth goal and I left.

Maine did not pass well; a lot of their pucks were on edge. The power play hasn't been fixed yet and there's no reason for that. But what really put them behind the 8-ball was Marty's play in the first. I felt the 5x5 game was pretty even and Maine skated well; the final was 7-1 but I don't think the play was indicutative of that. What I mean is, against Miami they got their azzes kicked; this wasn't that kind of game.

Like what I saw from Diamond and Abbott. Dee wasn't bad. House didn't show me much, Nyquist made a great pass on the goal and one other great pass that Flynn couldn't finish but otherwise wasn't superb. Nemec and Banwell I thought were OK, Dimmen was rusty. I don't know why Mangene is on D if he's third pair.....with Dimmen back, won't he see more minutes as a third line wing?

My guess is Sully starts for awhile. Martin will be lucky to ever get out of the doghouse. Until the D starts playing physically this team will never be successful

Sully didnt exactly play brilliantly either

3 goals on 13 shots vs. 4 goals on 19 shots
