Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

As the old saying goes, stick a fork in 'em. This season is toast, only question is will they win 10 games? Lets hope not. I cant see them sweeping NU at home and they'll get nothing at UHN as that series is their NC game(s) . All in all its the best thing that could happen towards everyones goal of getting the Whitehead disease out of our system.

UMaine will sweep Northeastern AND will get something @ UNH the following weekend. Love UNH, but the 'Cats never seem to do well in their "NC" games ... :( ;)

They've won one game at Alfond this season, sweeping anyone will be a tall order for this team

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

It wouldn't surprise me any if they reward Timmay for missing the playoffs. Having a winning program doesn't matter to the university.

if they continue to sell 4000+ tickets per game and if golfing buddies keep giving tons of cash to Timmy, then why should having a winning program matter?

this is why I had hoped that people would stop going to the games and stop donating.

lots of people have stopped donating time to the Friends of Maine Hockey, but I do not suppose that is something that shows up on a bottom line anywhere

Correct.

Note to all present and future UMaine coaches.........become GOOD friends with anyone named Alfond, Mahaney, or Collins and you WILL succeed.;)

Yes, it will be a tall order. This team works hard for what they achieve on the ice. The coaching staff has done a good job developing this team over the course of the season in my opinion. With their work ethic and a little puck luck, they can sweep this weekend series. Senior night on Saturday.

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

NESN will be broadcasting the Maine - New Hampshire game on March 9th as part of their flex scheduling.

honestly, Pollyanna, this is too much...

the glass was 1/20th full 6 weeks ago, and now it is 1/15th full and that is a GOOD thing?

whitehead has developed this team in to a 9th place team in hockey east and a 45th ranked team nationally. up from 10th and 54th

I wonder if there would have been fewer concussions and other injuries had Timmy been able to motivate the boys into coming into camp in shape this past year

Wow
This team has more talent than their record indicates. Timmay is lucky their is no money or He'd be history

As has been stated, you're delusional beyond belief. This team is terrible because of TIMMAY, not in spite of him.

Why? Providence-Lowell will probably be a battle for home ice - and could be for the Hockey East title. Or they can stay in the city and chronicle BU's usual post-Crockpot winning stre...oh....never mind.

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

This team isn't good, why would anyone expect them to win any game, anywhere? Especially with Joey out

Seems to me they played three very good games recently without Joey. But leave it to a TIMMAY team with a playoff spot on the line, to be able to win two against BC at BC, but then gack bigtime at Vermont, and then split against a not-good UMass team.

Seriously, does anyone believe this would happen if someone like even Dennehy were coaching this team? But TIMMAY has proved over and over again over the years that he's just incapable of getting his players to perform up to their capabilities other than brief spots here and there.

Played good games but did you expect it? Blew it against BU also, BU isn't good either

Re: Maine 2012-13 Part 3D: Still digging

If the fans would support them more......maybe they would win more. People put too much pressure on them to win.

Even though I know you're probably being a touch sarcastic, your comment reminded me of way back when in the balcony of the Alfond when the students included newspapers as props for the whole pregame "So what, what a joke, big deal" routine, and when the announcers were announcing an opposing team's player the students all got their newspapers out and looked disinterested. Perhaps that's a way fans can show that they're being supportive of the team through attendance but not putting too much pressure on the players by bringing newspapers to read for the introduction of the Maine players (and or coach Whitehead!).

The lack of leadership and vision is embodied in the appointment of joey Diamond as a captain of this years team. The fact that he had a "stiff" back....and didn't even make the trip to Amherst is mind boggling.....You have other players willing to sacrifice and to play with pain...and yet Joey can't even toe the line.....a critical weekend...and a SR CAPTAIN tells staff...he is too sore to play and a 5 hour bus ride would be too much......

This is the type of leader that Whitehead chose....ye shall reap what ye sow......and this is turning into a crop of cowpies.......
