LSSU Lakers 2015-16: The 50th season

Game really changed in the 3rd when there was not a call on Anchorage for the knee to knee on McArdle that knocked McArdle out of the game, and looks to be a serious injury. Should have been a 5 and misconduct.

How all 4 officials missed the hit is unbelievable, when the puck was right there.

I'll have to go back and look, but I think it was Anholt that hit McArdle and he ended up scoring two goals. It also appeared (and the UAA announcer mentioned it) that CJ Hayes got slewfooted in the slot late in the 3rd. It was only called a 2 min and Hayes got 2 for roughing. Those are huge misses by the refs, although to be fair they were consistently missing calls all night for both teams.

That's the way it sounded on the radio. Effective incompetence by the refs against the Lakers is getting hard to take.

What did Drapluck do to get the misconduct?

He lifted the net off and threw it towards the boards after the empty-net goal. Ref didn't care for it I guess.

Right after the empty net goal, he threw down the net in frustration. Not sure if that is what got him the misconduct or if he said something to the refs.

I thought it was Anholt on the hit as well, and was thinking the same thing about him scoring the 4th and 5th goal.

He did say something to the ref from the penalty box and the ref immediately called the technical.

All these phone calls and what good do they really do? Oh gee Damon that should have been called sorry.

Yeah, I agree.

Really sad when the continuing incompetence of the WCHA reffing crews puts players careers on the line. I doubt McArdle will be back this year.

BS. Looked completely incidental.

So an incidental trip or high stick should not be a penalty? A knee on knee hit is a penalty by the book. Doesn't matter if it is incidental or not, should be automatic 5.

It usually is automatic and rightfully so. That is not homerism it's hating to see any player on any team get hurt like that.

Apples and oranges. Two players trying to get out of each others way can knock knees very easily.

Hopefully McArdle's injury isn't as serious as what's being said. If he is indeed out for the season, we will definitely be thin on defense. The Lakers can't afford any more defensive injuries.

Tough to say how severe it is, but he did not put any pressure on the leg when they were skating him off the ice. It is usually not good when that is the case.

Yikes, doesn't sound promising. I did not see the video as I just listened to the radio feed. I think it's safe to say this will be a hot topic on the Laker Hockey Show Monday.

It could have been a penalty, but then again Torrel could have been called for a CFB on UAA's Rygard, hitting him head first into the boards. There was no call on that play as well. A Seawolf player was also crosschecked to the neck after the whistle and there was no call. The refs let a lot go this weekend.
